Summary: My 2 year old loves this book!
Review: Being a toddler, my daughter likes saying "No, No, Jo!" and she feels like she has some control over her world (and she's "reading"). The Sam-Jen-Jo situations are very typical for her age group (selecting socks, brushing teeth, painting), and the pictures are colorful. (Plus we have a kitten ourselves to relate Jo's antics to!) A child who is testing out his/her independence would enjoy this book. It's also short enough for a parent to read over several times without getting too annoyed with the repetition that toddlers so love!

Summary: My son loves it!
Review: I found this book to be a great book to read with my 26 month old. Its rhyming swing and its length make it a great book for that age. Also, the repeating of the phrase "No No Jo" allows my daughter to join in and is a good way for her to start reading.

I have to chuckle when I read the reviews about this book having a negative attitude towards animals and it showing bad behavior for toddlers. Let's get a grip on reality Folks! This is a children's book about a mischevious cat. The person who wrote about the negative attitude towards animals obviously has never had children and a kitten in the house at the same time. And let's go to the ending where they whisper "Good Night Jo" as the kitten is asleep on the couch. Oh man, major negative attitude in that one and what a showing of ill manners...NOT!

It's a great children's book and I recommend it completely.

Summary: Great book to get toddlers interested in books
Review: I just received this book for my 2 year old girl, and she loves it. She actually wants to sleep with this book! She loves to repeat the pharse--No, No Jo! and of course I love to hear her say it. Being that she's a late talker, any book that can catch her attention like this is great for us! I really enjoy reading this to her, and she loves this mischevious cat! A great read for a 2 year old!

Summary: My kids love this book
Review: My oldest daughter's first sentence was "No no, Jo!" I've already ordered a new copy of this to give to her when she's older since our first copy was worn out. I bought a copy for my brother-in-law's new baby but my two-year-old commandeered it so she could have a copy upstairs and one down. We love this book.

Summary: Great for toddlers!
Review: This book is great for toddlers. My 22-month old son adores it! He loves repeating the refrain, "No, no Jo!" The illustrations aren't beautiful, but he doesn't care. All-in-all, a fun book.

Summary: Your Child May Like It, But You May Not
Review: This is a cute story between the children and the cat, who always seems to do just the wrong thing with the right intentions. I don't think the children are cruel to the cat. It is natural and appropriate to tell toddlers or young animals "No, no, we don't do that." The children never seem to be cruelly saying it or yelling, so I don't think it's a problem. We have so many toddler/preschool books with repetitive sayings that they have become a joke in our house. My three year old loved this book and it actually taught her to say "No, no." to our cat nicely instead of screeching when she saw him do something she thought he shouldn't. The illustrations, though colorful, are not my style, but my daughter really likes it.

Summary: Your Child May Like It, But You May Not
Review: Toddlers are going to learn the power of the word "No" with or without this book, so that should be of no concern to any parent. And the fact that young children love saying "No" makes this story's refrain of "No, no, Jo!" that much more appealing. The rest of the text, though, is insipid. The rhyme scheme is forced and not all that clever. And the artwork is downright ugly compared to some of the fun and attractive illustration work in children's books. In the end, though, all your child may care about is that he enjoys the book, which he probably will.
