Summary: A Civil War Union Soldier
Review: A Six-teen year old James joins the Union Amery . He was asked by Lt. Toms to write a jonural about what happens to his Company in the war . I loved how Jim Murphy described the war . One day James was afraid to die . Read this book and find out if he lives or not. I liked how the auhor used powerful words to make the story better.

Review: I am a Civil War buff. Picked this book up at the local library. It was in the children's department but it is reading material for an adult also. Material taken from excerpts of actual journals. Humerous parts but also "very sad" ones too. Very descriptive and makes one feel you are actually there. I couldn't put it down once I started it. Purchased a copy of my own from Amazon. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this for anyone to read.

Summary: Thank goodness my mother made me read it!
Review: I'm a sixth grader, and I read this book over the summer. I highly recommend this book for history-lovers. I went to Gettysburg, PA, this Spring and it really got me into the Civil War. When my mother showed me the book, I couldn't pass it up. It's a great book with lots of true background. James Edmond Pease goes through lots of interesting things. I don't know how he did it. Some parts were so exciting I couldn't sit still!

Review: This is a great book. It is about this Union soldier who thinks he has bad luck and has to keep a journal for the company he is in. It is exiting. If you liked The Red Badge of Courage you will like this book.

Review: This is one of the greatest war books ever!the author does a great job describing the battles and how the bullets zipped past his ear. The book is so descriptive that you feel as if you were there at the battle with James.
