Summary: Be aware of the adult things Alice does
Review: Alice is certainly growing up and is true to the character which Mrs. Naylor has created. However, it is now time for the elementary school to be aware of the contents of the book, as Alice attends a shower, where she is given a fairly expicit questionnaire to answer, and the girls continue their discussion of sex by wondering about positions. Yes, this is a wonderfully funny and realistic book, but be sure you know what you are getting. It is not a book for the 9-year old.

Summary: Sorry, NOT for 9-13 year olds
Review: I bought this book for my 11 year old daughter. SHE brought it to me and pointed out different passages that she felt her teacher would not approve of. Examples: After being at a bridal shower where there were games, Alice asks her 21-yr old brother some of the questions from the game such as "have you ever mentally undressed a stranger" and "have you ever made love in a room besides the bedroom". I am no prude by any stretch of the imagination but I AM a firm believer in letting kids be kids. THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR AN 11 YEAR OLD or anyone younger. I can't believe other people haven't written about this before. It's a shame we have to censor everything our kids watch on tv and read these days.

Summary: ;( I love Mrs. Naylor, but this book was surprisingly bad
Review: I think the rest of the "Alice" books are REALLY good, and very funny, but this book was not. It was okay, but nothing more. I don't regret reading it 'cause I've read all the books in the series, and don't want to miss out on anything. This book just was not as satisfying as the other books in the series. I've talked (for a very short time!) on the phone (I can't believe her number was listed!)with Phyllis Reynolds Naylor before (I think in '94...), and I'm a really big fan of hers. "Outrageously Alice" was probably the only book of her's that I wouldn't give a 10. But read it anyway if you like the "Alice" books, because it's not that bad, just not great

Summary: Outstanding book for teenagers
Review: Outrageously Alice is an outstanding book for teens. I highly reccomend it! Naylor puts the book together in a way that anyone 12-18 could easily relate to. The whole series is wonderful and Alice is easily related to also. It's definetely a book to consider reading or giving as a gift to a teenager. Sure to be a hit!

Summary: Not appropriate for 9 and 10 year olds
Review: This book is listed for readers age 9-13. However, it is most inapprpriate for preteen readers. Alice learns about "sensual experiences in a swimming pool" and what to do with whipped cream besides putting it on a dessert. This book was donated to my 4th grade classroom library. I assumed it would be appropriate based on Mrs. Naylors other works. Boy was I surprised when a parent brought it to my attention. Strictly for Jr. High and up.

Summary: PG-13!
Review: This book is wonderful. You can experience how it feels when you are going to be 13. What may happen when you are 13. My daughter read it. Who is 12. She loved it also. I give it 5 Stars!

Summary: This book was funny, real, and easy to relate to.
Review: This was the very first book I read in the Alice McKinley series. After I finished it I read every other book in the series. The author creates a very beleivable character, and we can all relate to Alice's situations. It was very humorous and I couldn't put it down. I'm a teenager and I loved it. So I told my g-ma about it and she read it and loved it too. She also reads the books in the series. I definatly reccomend it.
