Rating: Summary: Practicing Kindness Review: An old woman watches the neighborhood children at play, but one child has no mittens to keep hands protected from winter's chill. The woman sits down and begins to solve the problem. After finishing one pair, she keeps knitting until she can secretly fill a tree with mittens. She in turn receives a surprise. This book is great for teaching kindness and compassion. After reading this book, a kindergarten class had a visitor come to demonstrate knitting. As she knit a pink pair of mittens, a boy sidled up to her and asked, "Do you have blue wool, too?"
