Summary: Great book for all ages
Review: I begrudgingally started reading Big Red when I was in grade school after my mom gave it to me as a gift. Once I started, I couldn't put it down and read everything by Jim Kjelgaard I could get my hands, including Snow Dog. I have been hooked on reading ever since.

I recently gave all of my Jim Kjelgaard books to my son, who is in grade school, and he is hooked just like I was. This prompted me to start reading them again and I realized just how good they are. Of all of them, I rate Snow Dog at the top of the list. This book is well written and extremely captivating. I would recommend it to anybody of any age. Read it, you will enjoy every page.

Summary: Review on Snow Dog
Review: The book Snow Dog by Jim Kjelaard is a wild adventure/survival tale. It's a thrilling adventure saga of a husky pup alone against the northern wilderness in the early 1900's.

The steel-gray husky, Chiri, was just a pup when the he witnessed black wolf killed his mother and brother. Alone in the great northern wilderness, he learned to survive by instinct and native intelligence, hunting small game for himself and keeping warm in the den his mother built for him. He lived life seeking revenge, knowing he would one day cross paths again with his vicious enemy and only one would survive. Trapper, Link Stevens, is the only human Chiri will learn to trust. The plot takes the reader from the time Chiri is left orphaned in the great wilderness, to when he unites with Link Stevens and saves his life.

In my opinion, this adventure saga was a great book. The details the author uses to describe what is happening is amazing. The description of the bitterness and the harshness of the great northern wilderness made you feel like you were there. The tone of this book is very straight forward. It is told in third person. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: Exciting frontier tale featuring a fearless husky
Review: This adventure story, like many of Kjelgaard's, centers around a noble canine that lives by the rough and tumble code of the frontier. Chiri is a half wild husky dog, and Link is the lonely trapper who befriends him. We follow the husky as he grows from a young pup, orphaned after a vicious attack by a black wolf.

The descriptions of the landscape and wildlife betray an intimate knowledge of the northern woods, and the life of the trapper Link bears the same whiff of authenticity. The natural settings help a young person to develop an appreciation for nature, and for where humans belong in the scheme of things. There are also lessons about trust and honor, and other values that are desirable.

The action scenes are plentiful and exciting, and the heroes of all species use their strength and cunning to overcome all obstacles.

The book is in the tradition of White Fang, but is written in a more straightforward manner that should be pleasing to younger readers as well as adults who appreciate the crisp style of a Louis Lamour tale.

If you're already a fan of Kjelgaard's writing, you should consider this to be one of his best works.

Summary: One of the greatest books I have ever read!
Review: This book was both adventurous and funny. I really liked this book. The little pup named Chiri became lonely but learned to live by himself. Then he grows up and kills the black wolf. Not only does he get revenge but he also gets respect from the black wolf's pack.
