Summary: truly inspired
Review: I have probably purchased more than 23 of these books to give away to new mothers as well as toddlers, oh, and cat lovers! I find that boys as well as girls love this book and the magnificent illustrations. "Wow! Cool!" were exclamations from eight and ten year old boys watching the cat in the storm, with the owl, with the chickens, and just overall. The entire book is authentic and poignant. Thank goodness I have 11 more children to buy this book for this Christmas!! And I always keep a few on hand just in case.

Summary: Beautiful cat's-eye view of life at night
Review: I read this book over and over to my two year-old, and every time I read it I loved it more. Ashley Wolff has taken an otherwise ordinary night in a rural home and turned it into a wonderful look at life from the point of view of a (nocturnal) cat. Beautifully illustrated and perfectly told, this is my current favorite children's story. Our copy is worn out and has pages torn from use - I can't believe it's out of print!

Summary: A Must Have Book for Children
Review: I recently purchased this book for my toddler, and my only disappointment is that I waited until she was 20 months old to do so! The book is beautifully illustrated with a wonderful storyline and theme. Children will love the gorgeous depictions of the various things that only the cat sees in the middle of the night (a mommy nursing, fireflies, an owl), and parents will love the simplicity and beauty of the book.

An added plus is a wonderful illustration of a mother nursing her child in the middle of the night.

Hushabye, Baby Blue ..another book with a wonderful storyline and beautiful illustrations, including one of a mother nursing her baby. If you are a nursing mom, both Hushabye, Baby Blue (a board book that will withstand lots of abuse) and Only The Cat Saw (a paperback) are *essential* additions to your child's library. Regardless of whether your child is nursing, these books are perfect for your baby and toddler.

Summary: Absolutely Beautiful
Review: My 2 year old loves this book. I like that it is different from the cookie-cutter children's stories out there. There are no nonsense words or oversimplification. The story is about an evening/night on a farm, and what the various people are doing at different times through the night. I especially enjoyed the episode of the mother nursing her baby during the night. As a nursing mother, I am always looking for books that depict real family events in an attachment parenting perspective. The illustrations are excellent; story provides a paragraph on what the family is doing, then an illustrated page of what the cat sees during the same time. My daughter likes to point things on the page that the cat saw, and this is such a natural, nice way to involve a child in the story. Kudos to the author.

Summary: Wonderful, unique story
Review: My almost 2 year old son and I love this book. The illustrations are full of detail and color and are very realistic. I especially appreciate the story content (including Amy's night trip to the bathroom and baby Sam's breastfeeding!). This story captures the night routines of a family (comforting for children to see) as well as the night activities of the cat. I recommend this book! Thanks to the author for those scenes she had to fight for....

Summary: truly inspired
Review: This is a wonderful book -- beautiful, often dramatic illustrations and a simple story that conveys a sense of wonder in a direct, fun, warm way. Our three-year-old boy has loved this book since we got it when he was about one, and I always enjoy reading it too. One of our favorites -- deserves to be a classic. Truly inspired in every way.

Summary: Gorgeous illustrations
Review: This sweet, simple story has incredibly beautiful illustrations. It includes a picture of a mom nursing her baby. Its just a natural part of life --just as all the other things that only the cat saw. I bought it for my daughter and liked it so much that I bought 3 more for gifts.
