Rating: Summary: Was amazed with the reality and the action through the book! Review: "Say Goodnight, Gracie" is probably one of the best books I have ever read. This heartfelt story of to best friends who have known each other for all of the 17 years of thier lives is one that will surely win you over as one of your favorites! Let me give you a little taste of the book. It starts out in a town on the out skirts of Chicago where 1 young dancer( Jimmy Wolff) and 1 young actress (Morgan, narrator), both struggling to have careers in the city. Both go through good times and bad, when suddennly an accident has taken Jimmy's life and Morgan must learn to cope without him. Thanks to her aunt, mother and Jimmy's mother, it looks as though she will be just fine! I suggest this book to you because I have read it my self and believe me it is by far the best book I have ever read in my life. Both Jimmy and Morgan are compelling and loveable characters! I sure hope this book gets a lot of publicity because absoloutly should. I recomend you go to the nearest library and check this book out right NOW!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: "Say Goodnight, Gracie" Review: ... That night I fell in love with this book. Laughing through half of it, crying through the rest, this book shows so much emotion. It really hit me because one of two of my best friends is a guy, named Josh, and we have been torn away from each other by my moving. I could never imagine him (or my other best friend) being killed. It is almost too painful to think about. It also hit me because just last year one of my really good friends was taken away almost like in the story. This book is a must read for anyone and everyone. It is almost a crime if you do not love this book.
Rating: Summary: A definate read Review: Hi to everyone. I write this review, beacause this is one of my all time favorite books. I read it when I was in the 7th grade and I just now read it again, and I'm 17. The book is beautifully written, and can capture the mind of anyone, it did mine. I cried through most of it, considering the whole plot was on loss and healing. I cried mostly because of the chracter Jimmy. He was my favorite and a person, if real, I would love to meet. Then his life tragically cut short in the midst of his career. Which obvisouly affected his best friend since birth, Morgan Hackett (affectionatly called "Hackett".)It reminses and shows their sometimes strange yet loving friendship and how it suddenly ends. This book shows healing of the main chracter, Morgan who will have to face the pain and eventually does. The plot of this story is almost like Romeo and Juliet, but in my eyes more tragic.( A juliet without her Romeo). I recommend this book with 5 stars. ;) And it proves, change does happen.
Rating: Summary: I am the Number One fan of this novel. Review: I am 15 years old. I have never lost my best friend. At the end of Say Goodnight, Gracie, though, I felt that I had. I have read this novel 73 times, and it just keeps getting better. When I was maybe 12, I picked it up off of my older sister's dresser, and it feels like I haven't put it down in 3 years. I loved everything about this book. I loved the characters, especially Aunt Lo, who helps Morgan through the most difficult time in her life. I loved the emotions of the story. I loved how it didn't end perfectly, but you felt such happiness when you closed it. I remember crying for Jimmy "and all that he meant to me." I feel such a deep love for this novel. I seemed to slip right in to Morgan's head (and heart) as soon as the book started. I learned so much from her and Jimmy, about friendship, love and getting through the toughest of times. This book was an 11 on a scale of 1-10. I recommend it for absolutely anyone. You don't have to know what loss is like. You really don't. You just have to be in the mood to laugh and cry in one sitting. And, believe me, that's all it is going to take to read this book.
Rating: Summary: Overcoming the Loss of a Friend Review: I read this book when I was 14 (back in '88) and home from school with a bad cold. I was borrowing the book from a friend, and being bedridden was the perfect excuse to start reading it. Needless to say, I read the entire book that day. This story of a great friendship between a teenage girl and boy and how one must learn to live without the other when tragedy strikes had me sobbing through most of the book. And when I finished the book around the time the rest of my family was coming home from school and work, I had this intense feeling that I had just overcome a horrible tragedy myself, that I had gone through an entire grieving process, but that I could "go on." This book had such a strong effect on me though I never lost a friend at a young age. In hindsight, this is the kind of book that would be inspirational to someone who HAS lost a friend and needs to process their feelings of grief. A very touching story!
Rating: Summary: The best book I've ever read. Review: Julie Reece Deaver has done it again with this wonderful novel. It's about this girl named Gracie who has a best friend named Jimmy Woolf. They have known each other since birth and live next door to each other. If this website would let you rate higher than 5 stars I would rate this a 10 star book! This deals with death, maturity , and other things. I would recommend this book to people that is ages 11-100. I read this book in the 6th grade and I'm now in the 8th grade and I can still remember this book just like I read it yesterday! So this book was so interesting I finished it in one day! This book is a page turner and will keep you on the edge of your seat on some chapters and others it won't. But if you are a average everyday reader this book is for you! All my friends say that this book is the best one they ever read! So Happy Reading! :)
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: My name is Crystalle i go to Mason high school in ohio. I'm 18 years old and am a senior. I read this book for my Bestsellers class for a group assignment. When my book partner and i were looking for a book i was hesitent on this book it looked like it was going to be a major "mushy" book but as soon as i started reading it i was Morgan. I literally felt everything that she felt. When Jimmy died i cried for about 20 min after i read it. This is a book that everybody should read. You learn so much about love, friendship and making it through the toughest times in your life. I read this book in 4 and a half hours, i couldn't put it down. My friends and i all thought that this book was great. So enjoy!!
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I Have Ever Read! Review: Once a good friend mentioned that she was reading a book called Say Goodnight Gracie, and that it was one of the best ones she had ever read. I was a bit skeptical at first but I decided to look into it. After reading this book, I was astonished as to how many emotions and how much love was put into it. I have now declared this as the best book I have ever read. The first line in the book, I believe, says more to me, and to others, than any others books could even get close to. "There are friends, I think, we can't imagine living without. People who are sisters to us, or brothers." This book is about two teens, Morgan and Jimmy, who have been best friends since the day they were born. They never thought anything would bring them apart. Nothing could ever damage their friendship because it was just too perfect. Nothing could ever ruin it, that is until the day that Jimmy was killed by a drunk driver. Morgan thought her life was coming to an end. This is the worst thing that could have ever happened to her, and she just wondered why. Why Jimmy? Why not her? It took her a long, long time to realize that Jimmy was going to be gone and never come back again. Many people tried to reach out and try to help Morgan, but she wouldn't let anyone come too close. She just wanted to isolate herself, and not want to deal with it. She went through a period of time where she wouldn't sleep at night, wouldn't go to school, and thought that she was basically becoming a zombie. But considering the circumstances, her becoming like that was understandable. Morgan would never forget Jimmy, but she finally realized that it was time to move on, and he would never come back. She knew that if he were up in heaven, looking down upon her, he would be upset seeing her mope like this. So she decides to go back to school, she even makes a new friend, and just decides to move on with her life again, but she will never ever forget Jimmy.
Rating: Summary: Goodnight! Review: This book is a delightful introduction to George Burns and Gracie Allen, their public lives together, how they met, fell in love, and married, about their radio program and a great deal about their TV program and how it was a sucess for so long. We learned about George's long time friendship with Jack Benny and what both George and Gracie's schedules were like. I'm amazed the George got any sleep at all! When did he find the time? This was a fun book that has inspired me to actually track down copies of the radio show and of the TV program (very recently available on DVD!). I'm really enjoying learning about this couple who adored each other so much and looking forward to the next book on the subject which I already have.
Rating: Summary: I loved it so much Review: This book so good, I could never put it down. My English teacher had to ask me to put the book down three or four times. And to tell you something, I don't like to read a lot of books. So if that tells you how much I loved this book. I try to tell everyone about this book . READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
