Description:

Jinkies! Zoinks! Look, like, dude, man... Look no further for all your Shaggy-isms, Velma-isms, and unabashed Scooby-isms ("Raggy! A ronster!") in this boiled-down novelization of the Scooby-Doo movie. Each member of Mystery, Inc., takes a turn telling the story through his or her own eyes (even Scooby, who provides a chapter with Shaggy translation), missing none of the movie's self-referential ridiculousness. Working from James Gunn's screenplay, Suzanne Weyn (Bob the Builder, Forever Angels) doesn't seem to have passed up any of the script's better jokes, which make fun of everything from the Gap to Vanilla Ice to the Olsen twins. Will the gang eventually find "the Papa Smurf figure" behind the demonic happenings on Spooky Island? Of course they will, but don't read the story here first if you're hoping to preserve any of the movie's surprises--including the identity of its unlikely (yet somehow inevitable) villain. Comes with eight pages of movie stills. (Ages 4 to 8) --Paul Hughes
