Rating: Summary: Exciting Review: Mr. Slow is the story about a slow man. A very slow man. It takes him all day to eat a cake, as he puts it in his mouth a crumb at a time. Being slow has its problems. How will he find a job? He tries to sell lemonade but by the time he has finished making it, it is too cold. He tries to sell scarves, but by the time he is ready he is too warm. What will he do? Read the book and find out! Like many of the other books in this series, this book shows how a person can overcome a very troubling problem.
Rating: Summary: It's Not Easy Being Slow... Review: When I was little, I loved the Mr Men series. I was fascinated by the colorful characters and their adventures. If I was ever given some money, I'd pop down to the local newsagent with my mum to get a Mr Men, sometimes bringing some of the other Mr Men books I had collected to show people. I liked them a LOT. I'm glad these books are still around to capture the imaginations of the little ones today. I'm sure they'll be as fascinated as I was.
Mr Slow takes his time with everything, and it makes his life rather difficult. He tries to find a job, but being slow means he can't get the work done on time. Everywhere he goes it's the same problem. With the help of his Mr Men friends, can he find a job that's right for him? Can slow ever be useful?
One thing I really liked about this book when I was little, I remember, was imagining just how slow Mr Slow really was. There's one part which describes Mr Slow taking so long to make an ice-cream cone for the summer, it was winter. As a kid, I could picture him standing there for months making an ice-cream slowly. It was silly and funny and amazing, all at the same time. I also liked that a lot of the other Mr Men were in this. It made the book a lot more colorful and bright, and the different character's personalities made the book more exciting. I think that had a lot to do with the fact I didn't have most of the books that the "guest Mr Men" originally came from.
A great book for the little ones. Great for a bedtime story.
