Summary: Seal Island School
Review: This book is about kids who go to Seal Island School. Every year they get a new teacher because they think the island is to lonely. (There's only 42 people on it) Pru, one of the children, really likes the new teacher Miss. Spencer and is afraid she'll go away like all the other teachers. Pru finds out that Miss. Spencer wants a dog, so she and her friend Nicholas work hard to raise money to buy one. I'm not going to tell you what happens in the end because I think you should read the book!

Review: This story of a two-room school house is the perfect beginning chapter book for young readers. It has likeable characters who make the story believable, and descriptions that help the reader picture the island community in their mind. This would also be a wonderful "read-aloud" book for teachers of students in the second,third, and possibly fourth grade.
