Rating: Summary: Has many problems Review: This book is has some pretty big problems. Sister Bear is invited to a slumber party by her friend, Lizzie Bruin. Mama has this big lecture with her about privilege and responsibility, and allows her to go, ONLY if she is responsible. Meanwhile, Lizzie invites a million other cubs to the party. When Sister gets there, Lizzie's parents aren't home! A sitter looks after them, and then, things get ugly. Here are the things I find messed up about this book. When I first got it for my 7-year old son in 1990, it sounded interesting, so I read it to him. When they were making too much noise at the party, the neighbors called the police. I thought, "O.K., this book may be going in the basement soon." But then, Mama Bear double-grounds Sister, in her room for a day and in the house for a week! Geez, Stan and Jan really lost their marbles here! Later, Mama said the punishment was "not harsh at all." O.K.; that's like saying that a liver-anchovy sundae with cod liver oil is your favorite food. After that, my son started having nightmares about it, and we put it in the basement. Several years later (bacause I hated the book), I wrote a book called, "Stan and Jan Berenstain contract the HIV virus from Earvin "Magic" Johnson." If you have that book today, keep it. It may be worth millions! Shortly after it was published, it went out of print. I still think about what I think is the worst Berenstain Bears book ever.
Rating: Summary: An OK Book Review: This book is pretty good. First, Sister Bear gets invited to a slumber party at her friend Lizzy's house. She tells her that only a few friends will be over.It turns out, many, many more kids come to Lizzy's slumber party. The slumber party turns into a popcorn throwing, soda-spilling mess because Lizzy's parents weren't home during the slumber party. The neighbors call the police since so much noise is coming from Lizzy's house and everyone has to go home.In the end, Sister Bear learns more about responsibility and her parents do too. I liked this book. It teaches a good lesson but it's also fun.
Rating: Summary: Hello Review: This was a pretty good book. It was good for several reasons and they are it was realistic, it taught a lesson, and it was funny. The first reason why this was a good book because it was realistic. To this very day people are still having wild slumber parties with unexpected guests. Next, this was a good book because it taught a lesson. In the end Lizzie Bruin learns that she shouldn't have had a slumber party without her parent's permission. Finally, this was a good book because it was funny. I found It was hilarious that little kids had police come because they had a out of control party. In conclusion, this was a good book.
