Rating: Summary: Excellent artwork! And what child doesn't love this story! Review: Each page in this book is definitely a piece of art! Mary Engelbreit outdid herself on this one. I initially checked it out from our local library and then decided I wanted it for our girls. It's a book I want them to be able to read to their own children one day! I would definitely recommend it!

Rating: Summary: Beautiful book. Review: I am a huge Engelbreit fan, and I just love this book. Every page is dazzling. My two year old loves it as well; he just gets lost in every illustration. He points to this and that and just can't get enough of just LOOKING. Engelbreit's bright colors and attention to detail just shine in this book. They just don't come any better than this!
Rating: Summary: Beautiful book! Review: I bought this book to read to my four year old daughter before Christmas. It is wonderful! The illustrations are incredible and the story is still as refreshing and fun today as it was when I was a child. Even though the holiday has passed, my daughter still pulls this book out for me to read to her at bedtime. Brilliant!
Rating: Summary: The Night Before Christmas illustrated by Tasha Tudor Review: I discovered this book 31 years ago, for my daughter and it is still loved by all the family. The illustrations are wonderful, warm, charming and delightful and bring a special meaning to the story. We still read it to all the young children on Christmas Eve and for adults we read the story and pass a grab bag gift every time the word THE is mentioned. It would not be Christmas without this book. It is magical.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Illustrations Review: I love Mary Engelbreit, and actually it was my almost 2 year old son who picked this book out. Hour after hour, day after day, week after week, he crawls up into our laps and has us read to him, or look at the pictures with him. This is his favorite book, which isn't bad because I love it too. The pictures are detailed, full of little surprises, and just warm and delightful.
Of course we all know the story of Twas the Night Before Christmas, but there are few who have illustrated it as imaginatively. Since it's a children's story the illustrations should be geared to kids. Mary Engelbreit, Jan Brett, and Tasha Tudor have all done a wonderful job with their own renditions of this classic tale. We bought the DVD for our son for Christmas, I have very high hopes for it, and will review after we've had a chance to see it.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful and enchanting Review: I wanted to get The Night Before Christmas for my three year old son, who's just starting to really understand about the magic of Christmas this year, and hoping to begin the family tradition of reading this story every Christmas eve before bedtime. When I saw that Mary Engelbreit was the illustrator, I just knew this was the version to get, and I couldn't be happier! The pictures are so beautifully done, my son loves picking out all the little details she's incorporated into each page-he just ooo's and awe's with excitement over the gorgeous pictures! A wonderfully done book with an added enjoyment to an already special Christmas tradition.
Rating: Summary: A great book for a great price!! Review: In preparing our list of Christmas books to share with others, we had to search far and wide on amazon to find this particular book, a paperback edition of the classic Night Before Christmas. This is the book I've used for years when reading this story to my own children, passing on Tasha Tudor and other illustrators. Why? Although we can find the same poem and pay a lot more, with award winning illustrators, the illustrations provided by Douglas Gorsline are surely the best. They are quite colorful, and offer details little children love looking into...cats lie sleepily on the window sill, we see an overview of the town, the presents spilling from the open sack are intriguing and plentiful, and Jolly St. Nick is -- well, quite Jolly (as you can see by looking at the cover!) The story is an "abridged version" - I'm not sure about other parents, but we read this on Christmas Eve, and we only have so much time and energy. Everything we remember from the classic poem by Clement Clarke Moore is in this version. (From "'Twas the Night Before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse" to "He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,"HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!" In between we have everything, from the names of the eight tiny reindeer, to a belly that shakes like a bowl full of jelly, including dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky". In other words, don't be scared off by 'abridged'!) Perhaps a hardcover edition might be more appropriate if you're giving a gift (unless you're giving to more than one child), but this book is one of the best offers we've found! A classic done simply and inexpensively!
Rating: Summary: The Perfect Family Gift Review: The Night Before Christmas by Clement Moore, with illustrations by Mary Engelbreit, is the perfect Family gift or chidren's present. The poetic tale of The Night Before Christmas, can become a lovely custom to sit and read with a child during the hectic days preceding the Holiday. Every family should own this classic tale that never tires children. The illustrations are magnificent in this book, but not too sophisticated for children. It could be any era, not just 1820. I remember with nostalgic pleasure having this read to me, until I began to recognize the words and reading it to myself on a nightly basis. I am sure another generation of children will be thrilled with this book, and their parents will likely feel the same with the memories it invokes.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book Review: We read this to our 5 month old daughter for her first Christmas. She would sit on our laps absolutely in awe of the illustrations. It is an absolutely wonderful book and one we will always read at Christmas!
