Summary: Hello Freud
Review: After having read many books in the Edith and Mr. Bear series as a child I was thrilled and overcome with extreme emotion to have found them again. Having two small girls of my own I hope they will love them as much as me and my twin sister did growing up. I also found two of my favorites (Edith and the Kitten, and Edith Learns and Lesson) on a rare books site, and quickly snatched them up. This time I will cherish them and hopefully I will be able to keep them for my grandchildren and great grandchildren. I've been searching for these books for over 4 years, my search is over. Thank You.

Summary: I've finally found her!
Review: As a young child I was waiting at the hospital to visit my Grandmother and someone had left this wonderful book outside on a picnic table. I looked through it as my uncle read it to me.Unlike all of my books at home, I could actually understand on my own what was going on. When it was time to leave, as it wasn't my book, I left it on that bench. I have spent the last 30 years trying to describe this doll to people so I could find her again. This was an important book to a small girl back then and an important book to this woman today. The photographs are so beautiful! Enjoy!

Summary: ABSOLUTE NOSTALGIA
Review: I can't believe The Lonely Doll and Edith and Mr. Bear, two wonderful books are still available! While I've never owned the latter, I can say that I do have the former, and it brings back warm memories. The pictures are absolutely charming, and the story line teaches a valuable lesson. I now plan to get Edith and Mr. Bear, so I can have the complete set!

Summary: Edith and Mr. Bear
Review: I have very fond memories of dragging every book in Dare Wright's Edith series home from the library as a child. These books are magical. The photo's are set up beautifully and each story teaches very important lessons. It is very exciting to see Edith, little Bear and Mr. Bear back in print again. My three year old and I are anxiously awaiting the rest of the series. I am very thankful that they are in print again.

Summary: The only books from my childhood that still disturb me.
Review: I read these Edith books as a child (probably 3-5 years old), and in the twenty years that have passed I am still feeling disturbed by them, DESPITE the fact that I have NOT reread the books as an adult. I have had images of the stiff photograph-illustrations of the doll (Edith), in her stiff poses and eery looks. Even so, for the past 20 years I couldn't pinpoint any specific reason for why I felt such an undercurrent in these books. I devoured books of all types as a child and these are the only books/series that gave me nightmares. Just last week I found out that my sister-in-law had also read the Edith books as a child and had a similar experience; she then offered a partial "explanation": she said she recently read an article on the author that claimed the author was physically abused. I had never known that until last week, and I do not know if her information on the abuse is accurate, but now at least my experience makes sense to me. I am NOT trying to bad-mouth the author, and I am NOT saying that just because someone is abused that we shouldn't read their books. I only want to give parents a heartfelt caution and say that more than one child has been seriously disturbed by these books in a way that no other books have impacted them. Please do not think that I am just your run-of-the-mill book-banning, over-sensitive reader. As a child, these books really disturbed me; I am frankly surprised they're being reprinted.

Summary: A Timeless Story
Review: I read this book as a child and it, without question, was myvery favorite. Dare Wright's charming photographs of the doll, Edithand Mr. Bear and Little Bear moved and delighted me. It's a simple story that a child can identify with. I've been trying for years to find a copy of this book that touched me as a child so that I can share it with my own daughter. I'm so happy that it has been rereleased for a new generation.

Summary: I love Edith and the Bears
Review: I too am so happy to see some of these books back in print to share with my daughter. Edith learns some important lessons in this story about the consequences of being untruthful and playing with matches. Learning important lessons isn't always easy and painless as she finds out. The important thing is that she has loving and caring guidance from Mr. Bear. I hope to see more of these books back in print. I have heard that "A Gift from the Lonely Doll" will be out just in time for the holidays this year. I certainly hope so and look forward to it.

Summary: BEWARE
Review: This is NOT an appropriate children's book! As a child, I found this highly upsetting. It is no wonder the author was disturbed-see "The Secret Life of the Lonely Doll". It does not deserve one star.
