Rating: Summary: Nursery School hops with the hippos Review: I bought this book to read at my nursery school. The children love the bright colors and interesting animals. They each try to be some type of animal playing their music.

Rating: Summary: Hippening Hop Review: I picked this up at the library for my 20 month old, and she glommed onto it instantly. She wants it read 5 to 20 times a day, and walks around the house going "Hippo Hop, Hippo Hop [by the]light [of the] moon". The text is rhythmic and happy, and my little one loves to name all the animals. She hasn't liked a book this much since "Hippos Go Berserk" (hmm, a theme developing here?) Grandma read it to her recently and pointed out that the underlying messages were very positive- i.e. when the animals leave "by twos" (after dancing all night) the mole leaves with a frog, and the wildebeest has been dancing with a zebra.

Rating: Summary: Great Book for young kids - music, dance, animals Review: One of our favorite books for our 2 year old who loves music. Lively, colorful and very fun (for kids and parents). Good lyrical, rhyming book with typically cute pictures by Westcott. Good survey of different types of instruments and excellent variety of animals (how often does one come across a capybara or tapir in a children's fiction story!); accessible for a young child's cognitive level without dumbing down. One of my favorite music theme books for young children (second only to "Mole Music" and slightly better than "Zin, Zin, Zin, A Violin".) Even at [this price], definitely worth having for all young children, not just music and animal lovers.

Rating: Summary: Absolute Best Book Review: This is the absolute best book! My four year old and two year old laugh so hard over this book, and we talk about it constantly - which "guys" we like best, what instruments they're playing, how they're dancing, what a mess they're making, who's friends with whom, who's leaving with whom, etc. We LOVE it!
