Summary: Randle appeals to (slightly) older readers, too. . .
Review: and not just those who read her for the sake of professional review. As one who works with kids and teens, I often wander over to that section of any bookstore to see what the younger set reads. I happened upon Kristen Randle's "The Only Alien on the Planet" and was intrigued. I read it through once, then kept going back to my favorite chapters time and time again. I wish I'd kept the book. Better yet, I wish I could find more of Randle's titles. "The Only Alien" is a very moving illustration of how emotionally and psychologically scarred youth can overcome an abusive past.

Summary: Antropomorphistic Book
Review: It is not your normal YA book, it has a deeper, more engaging meaning to it. The book starts up slow, and with a very commonly used plot - the new girl in town, that has a pretty rought time making friends. When she does get to have some friends, Hally and Caulder, she gets interested in yet another, character. Here the plot thickens as Smitty Tibbs, is one of the weirdest people around. The narrator (Ginny) and Caulder, try to get inside his mind... to find certain disturbing answers. The book is told in an excellent way, and Kristen D. Randle is amazing at giving the 'feel' of real teenagers. Even though, yes, it's got some dictionary-perfect dialogues, it is well put as it is said the characters are in the SAD (Scholatic & Academic Development program) classes, meaning they are real smart. The book is truly amazing, with a plot that twists and is hard to predict. I really recommend it... for a one night stand.

Summary: Absolutely superb!
Review: My initial response when I saw the title was, "Oh, I'm not really interested in aliens, there's no way I want to read this!" But... a teacher made me pick it up, and let me tell you, it has nothing to do with aliens, except being alienated from human life. This book was moving, and it made me rethink the way humans respond to life in general. Three main characters, all very different, but that all tie together in a way I'll never forget. Ginny, Caulder, and Smitty, the boy whose life they were trying to change. Although Smitty was the boy you'd expect to see the most changes in as the book progressed, I found Ginny and Caulder changing in many ways that were important for the human soul. It was a fresh, wonderfully written book, and I find myself to this day waiting for a person like Smitty to enter my life, and help me to realize all over again every human's basic needs.

Summary: You should give this book more then five stars!
Review: Not only does this book reek maturity, it's a coming-of-age novel that will peak the interest of all the readers, whether young or old. Reading the tragic life story of Michael, AKA "Smitty", and his overcoming the limits he has embedded into his brain, sparks the tiny bit of our souls that bind us together. In the end, I truly cried, and so did my mother. I recommend this book to any curious reader.

Review: Oh GOsh I loved this book so much!! Like that girl that was 15 years old that did the review. I read this book because i was suppost to have 700 pages done by the term so i got this book. And the drawing in the front of the book wouldn't usually get my attention but i dunno why it did! Well you should write a sequel to this. i loved this book so much that i went and bought and i'm gonna read it over and over again. This is the best book i've ever read in my life. i hope people will like this book as much as i do. but i was wondering where the writer got this idea to write this? I wish smitty and ginny would end up together at the end of this book. Well i hope my info about this book helped someone.

Summary: Wonderful book
Review: This book is so different and original. It's different because you feel compassion for all the characters involved and you don't get sucked into the same old situations that have turned into cliches throughout literature. It's my favorite book! Randle is absolutely gifted. She has a way of shedding light on the more important issues in society without seeming like some huge political statement. Plus, you get completely lost in the book, you ending up getting so sucked you don't pay attention to much else around you. I got sad when the book ended, not becuase I didn't like the ending of the book but becuase I realized that it was over and that I had to come my own world. This book is a definite must read.

Summary: My new favorite book
Review: This book is wonderful!! I read it when I was still in High School and it really shows a genuine experience. Now that I am in college,it's the same thing: There is always that one person who tries to keep out of the spotlight, and yet for that reason, people flock to them. That's what happened to Michael "Smitty" Tibbs.
Although I would have like to have seen it written on paper, there was a hint of a possoble romance between Smitty and Ginny. I guess I'm just a sucker for those kinds of things. It would be lovely if Ms. Randall made a sequel.
I never get tired of reading this book and I recommend it to anyone, not just the 8-12th graders that it is supposed to be for. I know that I will be reading this long after I graudate from college.

Review: This book makes me A) want to become a better person, B) become a movie producer so that I can put this on film, and C) become an english teacher to give this amazement to young people everywhere. I'm 18, hehe...

This book is astounding in every possible way. I've read the book 4 times, and I never EVER read a book more than once. I would explain some of the plot, but it seems everyone else is doing that. So instead, I shall offer an idea of it's greatness. I'm amazed how many people have actually heard of this book!! A good friend of mine told me he loved it, and my english teacher recommended it to the CLASS! I got my friend to read the book as well, and she used a major scene for a class project. This book touches the very core of every human being, and the lessons and insight you get from it are timeless and leave you breathless. You will NOT be disappointed. This book will help anyone grow as a person, and you can never stop growing. This book should be read in all english classrooms from junior high and up. It will open up many teenagers to reading and it stimulates the heart and mind.
