Summary: Excellent for both learning/doing
Review: Parents and educators should both like this book (I'm both myself). A handsome book in a handsome series, this book has DK-like bright photos, lots of detail, clear instructions that are age-appropriate (roughly, grades 2-5), and many excellent project suggestions. The six examples of story pictures are drawn from world cultures (such as the Bayeaux Tapestry, Russian Folktale Miniature Box, Ramayana painting), and the authors provide three different activities based on each of the six. None require elaborate arts set-ups or fancy materials. I found this book very helpful in curriculum planning, and loved leafing through it just for inspiration.
