Rating: Summary: Definitely worth five stars! A must read! Review: I bought this book without having read a copy of it beforehand, but I'm glad I took the chance, because this is one fantastic story! Being a horse person myself, I could identify with Jas's love of horses and sympathized with her over the loss of her beloved horse, Whirlwind. However, the human interest element is also a very strong part of the story. Jas is provoked to attack Hugh after she finds Whirlwind dead and Hugh blames the horse's death on her grandfather, who then suffers a stroke. Then she gets sent to a juvenile detention center and, because her grandfather is ill, she's sent to live with Miss Hahn, a lady who runs a farm where abused and neglected animals are cared for until they find a loving home. Jas believes (wrongly)that Miss Hahn is in cahoots with her accuser, Hugh Robicheaux, and is wary of her. But she also meets Chase, a boy about her age who wants to be a vet, and with whom Jas soon develops a strong friendship. Later she also meets Shadow, a horse who was destined for the slaughterhouse but who, with loving care, turns out to be a purebred Dutch warmblood who is a natural jumper. With some investigating, Jas soon discovers that there is a connection between Shadow, Hugh and even Whirlwind, and she seeks to find out just want that connection is. Jas refuses to give up her case against Hugh, despite his threats and opposition from others who think she should put it all behind her and get it out of her life. I hope that the author doesn't stop with just this one book, because this is a story worthy of a sequel, if I have ever seen one. I really want to see a continuing story to "Shadow Horse." There are things I would like to know. Will Hugh Robicheaux be exposed as the crook that he is, and given what he really deserves? Will Jas and her grandfather settle happily into life at Second Chance Farm? And most importantly, will Jas ever find her beloved Whirlwind and have her as her very own? As a person who has a special horse in her life, and very much wants one of her own, I especially would like to see that last question answered. Anyway, this book is a must-read for any horse lover! I highly recommend it!

Rating: Summary: The best book you can imagen Review: This book is about a girl named Jas who assaulted the owner of her favorite horse after it dies. Jas knows that Hugh(the owner) poisoned Whirlwind(the horse), but he has the power to shift all the blame to her grandfather. Now Jas has to live with a foster parent on the Second Chance farm. She is determined to prove that Hugh poisoned Whirlwind, and when she rescues a mysterious horse, she knows that somehow that horse is connected to Whirlwind's death. This book is absolutley amazing, and I couldn't put it down. The ending is dissapointing because it leaves the mystery half solved. I wouldn't read it unless there is a sequel coming out.
