Rating: Summary: Beyond Excellent! Review: In the daylight hours of the roaring 4-day storm called Hurricane Frances, I had to find something to occupy my mind and quiet my spirit. I found it in this delightful short story collection, Mistletoe Madness.
If you think it strange that someone would consider reading a book through such a traumatic time, then you have never experienced the long hours that stretch never-ending before you with nothing to do but hear the howl of destruction. This was a breath of quiet refreshing air.
A collection of holiday short stories for children ages 7-12, this 384 page work is packed full of tales that will touch your heart, tickle your funny bone, boost your faith and bring inspiration to young and old . None alike, we have a myriad of subjects, from the mysterious and fanciful that can be found in The Stalking Snowman,(my favorite) and The Great Christmas Tree Caper; to the chuckle of The Clauses Go Hollywood, and the heartwarming found in Mrs. Whipple's Christmas and First Turkey. My 8 year old granddaughter and I shared several stories together to her delight. She asked me if I would give her the book when I was finished; I'll have to think about that one!
Mistletoe Madness is a wonderful fresh idea in storytelling for children and adults to enjoy during the bustling holiday season, or anytime that you want to smile, sigh or just feel good all over. I can see nothing but praise coming forth for this wonderful collection; and I take my hat off to the many talented authors and illustrators who shared their gift with us in story, poetry and outstanding illustration. If a book can bring a smile during a hurricane, you have to know it's worth your time.
A wonderful read at a great price that will become a family treasure for years to come. Highly recommended.

Rating: Summary: Heartwarming for the Holidays Review: Trying to slow down and grab a moment of solitude? "Mistletoe Madness" is my pick! This short story collection spreads warmth to my heart with whimsical tales, fine illustrations, and lilting poems. I could even savor one of "Emily's Cookies"--the recipe is shared! Come on and try one while you giggle over Nan Snipes' "Great Christmas Tree Caper"; but laughter may turn to gentle sniffs as you see the true meaning of Christmas shine through. So, settle back and join me, won't you?
