Summary: A nice find
Review: This was agreat idea for a quilt book. It involves a boy, who demonstrates interest in quilting from old scraps, along with his other family members. The illustrations are fun, the story is clear and the general instructions are thrown gracefully into the book. Upon reading it directly to my children, I would stop every few pages and ask my child a question, or have a mini discussion about what was happening at that part of the book. When I read it to a class of 25 Third graders, however, I am afraid that the Rhyme style became somewhat monotonous to them, and I had to work hard to keep their interest by changing the meter, talking to them, and actually skipping a few lines here and there. Otherwise it was a great book, and I especially appreciate that the lead character was a regular modern day boy who was nevertheless fascinated by quilting. I consider it an excellent find.
