Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A great treat to read as a family.
Review: Our son likes the Spy Kids movies, so I bought a couple of books from this series. I thought they'd be painful, but at least we'd have some family time. Boy was I wrong. These books (at least the two I've read, numbers 1 and 5) are terrific. Elizabeth Lenhard can really write.
The protagonists are perfectly in character with the movies, the villains are both menaciing and humorous, and the books are loaded with puns and in-jokes for adults. In this book, Carmen and Juni get trapped in a virtual reality mall run by an evil mastermind. Kids in your household will enjoy the adventure, and adults will laugh at the commentary on our consumer culture. I really want to see more work by this talented writer.
