Summary: One of my favorite books
Review: As a third grade teacher in a New York City public school, I am always on the lookout for books for my class which give access to good dialogue, interesting characters, and unusual plot. It is hard to find all of these elements in one book.
Several years ago, I discovered "The Zack Files" series. This is a series which uses science-fiction to give the main character, Zack, an opportunity to have many adventures. Dan Greenburg, the author, uses dialogue throughout the series in an imaginative and realistic manner. He does not talk down to kids but rather includes them in the unusual happenings throughout the story.
I also like "The Zack Files" series because Dan uses Zack as the narrator. The children write in their writers' notebooks with themselves as the narrator because we know how important it is for children to have opinions and to be able to voice their opinions through writing. By reading
Zack Files books, they not only enjoy a good story, but are exposed to first person narrative similar to their own narratives in their writers' notebooks.
Just a few months ago, Dan Greenburg came out with a new series called "Maximum Boy." I was happy to see this because my class, being avid Zack Files readers, were happy to get into a new series by Dan Greenburg. They were not disappointed. "The Highjacking of Manhattan," "The Day Everything Tasted Like Broccoli," "Superhero or Superthief," and "Invasion from the Planet of the Cows" all were read enthusiastically by the twenty-seven children in my third grade class.
Again, Dan uses the first person narrative, which immediately helps the reader identify with the main character. Whereas Zack was just an average boy, having unusual adventures, Maximum Boy is a super-hero that gives his adventures a totally different twist.
I highly recommend both "The Zack Files" series and "The Maximum Boy" series for any student who enjoys adventure stories and for any adult who enjoys sharing a good read with their child.

Summary: I Love the Maximum Boy Series
Review: Is it possible that an eleven-year-old can fly? Lift freight trains? Punch out supervillains? In Dan Greenburg's newest series, Maximum Boy, it's possible.
In Maximum Girl Unmasked, Tiffany thinks being a superhero is easy at first. She uses her superpowers at school to get people to like her and see how strong she is. Tiffany finds out it's harder than she thinks when the President gets into a little bit of trouble.
I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in superheros and loves to laugh.
