Summary: Another DK Classic
Review: I originally bought this book for my 5 year old, but my 2 year old loves to look at the bright, high-quality photos of creatures from around the world. Each page features a different type of creature -- insects, farm animals, wild animals, and is more specific on a few pages, such as two pages devoted to the ten plagues of Egypt. The approach on this page was particularly sensitive to the young child, with no scary photos and an "edited" version what happened when the plagues were sent. The Big Book of Bible Animals is very thorough in it's coverage of nearly every type of creature we can think of -- snakes, fish, pets, working animals, etc. Especially appreciated by me are the two pages which discuss the importance of caring for our environment and the animals we share the world with. Watercolor illustraions lend a nice "handmade" touch to the photos, which could be a bit sterile on their own, with the white background. The illustrations don't compete with the photos, but complement them. All in all, a good book with a short text not overburdened with details, great photos and illustrations, and complete scripture references in the back for further study.
