Summary: Dorrie's Hat is on Straight, her Socks Match - What's Wrong?
Review: "Natter, natter, ugly imp, come quick as quick" chants Gloris, the cook who doesn't know how to cook, when Gloris thinks Dorrie's not listening. An imp that looks like Dorrie appears, distinguishable because his hat is on straight, his socks match, and Natter is neat and doesn't knock over a thing setting the table. Will the Big Witch listen? And where is Cook, the real cook?

All of the Dorrie books start "This is Dorrie. She is a witch . . . " and have plenty of familiar words to help the beginning reader. They always end with Dorrie going to bed, with Gink at her feet.

The Big Witch is a distracted, hard-working single mother with a big house that needs cleaning. She's not an impossible fictional mother for us real mothers to be compared to.
