Summary: Beautiful Book
Review: "Pumpkin Moon" is a lushly illustrated Halloween-themed book geared toward younger grade-school children. The word count is quite low, but that definitely isn't the focus of this book. The paintings are absolutely breathtaking in their richness. This book depicts the migration of Halloween jack-o-lanterns to the pumpkin moon, which is visible on Halloween.

The illustrations may be a bit much for the toddler set, but are perfect for slightly older children. Truly, a beautifully illustrated book.

Summary: Boring!
Review: I love Halloween, pumpkins, great illustrations, good stories whether they're 400,000 or 40 words. I frequently buy children's books for their illustrations. This book was a huge disappointment. I didn't find the illustrations imaginative or interesting. Lots of pumpkins, none with interesting faces. They floated through the air after the kids went to sleep...big deal. This book could have been fun. It definitely wasn't.

Summary: Feels like Halloween
Review: My 3 and 5 year olds love this book! It's a little scary, but the paintings are exquisite, you can practically taste the candy corn.

Summary: Who Needs Text with Illustrations Like This?
Review: Tim Preston wrote it but there are only 40 words of text (though they are 40 good words and lead the drama in the illustrations along nicely.) The fantastic illustrations of Simon Bartram totally make this book happen! If you love Halloween you will love this book. Large brilliant paintings featuring grinning jack-o-lanterns soaring through the dark Halloween skies along with witches and ghosts and tattered clouds create a shivering Halloween atmosphere in abundance! We start out with kids carving pumpkins, kids trick-or-treating and then at the stroke of midnight things really begin to take off! Join in the fun! You'll love this one.
