Rating: Summary: Beautiful photos to talk about with a toddler. Review: This book (as well as others in this series) is characterized by beautiful photographs of animal development. Border drawings fill in gaps left in the photographic sequence. While I find the inane first-person text irritating, it is not necessary to read it to enjoy the book with a child, especially a toddler. There is enough to talk about in the photos and drawings that the text can be ignored. This isn't the sort of book that school-age children can use to write a report. On the other hand, the limited coverage makes it perfect for toddlers and preschoolers; there is just the right amount to capture and maintain their interest, and not enough to overwhelm them.
