Summary: Great Introduction for the Older Child
Review: We were looking for a Bible story book that is not a daily reader but more structured to understand religion in general and have stories not tied to holidays. We found it in this wonderful book.
It does not require prior knowledge of the bible and tells the stories in age appropriate language.
The four chapters start with a few pages of general information followed by stories. It takes about 15 minutes to read the mostly 2-page stories aloud. I read to my 8-year-old son and he takes over for one or more paragraphs.
The illustrations are very nice, in the style of the cover. On the bottom of the stories are pictures and photographs of items and events decribed in the story, which helps to understand the time and culture. There are some simplified illustrated mamps as well. Each story comes with a summary "About the Story".
My son enjoys the stories very much and asks for one even on a busy home school day.
We plan on purchasing "The New Testament" once we finish reading this book.
Even though we are not very religious it has become an important part of our library and we will keep for our younger children.
This is a large formate, heavy book with a wipe-off cover.
It is definitely worth the price.
