Summary: THE SAGA OF A WEE FAITHFUL DOG
Review: I had been aware of this story for a number of years and
finally got around to reading it. The book takes place in
Edinburgh, Scotland. In the town square there's a drinking
fountain with a statue of a dog on the top. The bottom part
of the fountain has a water basin so that the dogs of the
town may also have a drink. The fountain was placed there
in memory of Greyfriar's Bobby who died in 1872.

This is a retelling of a true story about Bobby, a terrier
dog who remained loyal to his master, Jock even after his
master's death. There are apparently several books written
over the years telling the story, but this particular
publication has some of the most beautiful and touching
illustrations of Bobby.

Packaged as a book for children, this is a warm and loving
story of devotion and can be enjoyed by children and adults.
Every dog lover should see and read this book!

Summary: a heartwarming book with a message9
Review: The Ghost of Greyfriars Bobby is a book I have been searching for for awhile. While doing my research,I was surprised, if not dissapointed, to find out that Bobby was not a scottie dog, as I am fond of scotties. I found the story to be quite spiritual. It carries a message as well as being an interesting story for animal lovers. The art work is it's strongest point. Ruth Brown's study of character spills over into the animal kingdom. The detail of each page adds so much to the story and your imagination. This book is a heartwarming story of devotion and community spirit. I am also aware that Ruth Brown also illistrated James Herriot's wonderful books! Jacqueline Howard
