Summary: luminous
Review: Don't know why this book isn't better known. The story is a summer's evening stroll that shows how nocturnal animals greet the night: fireflies, owls, raccoons, bats, bullfrogs, and a loon. It has a gentle rhythm and sweet rhyme that makes it soothing at bedtime. At the end of the book, a boy and his dog settle down to sleep out under the stars. "Now it's late. All is dark, with just the moon for light. Close your eyes, go to sleep. Good night, sweet dreams, goodnight." My husband and I found this book before our baby was born and enjoyed looking at it at with the lights off. The glowing isjust magical. Almost the entire scene is visible, including animal eyes, glowing fish, and twinkling stars. My only concern is to keep the book out of my 8-month-old daughter's reach, as I'm afraid she might injest glow-in-the-dark ink.

Review: My 9-1/2 month old son enjoys this book more with the lights off! The story is simple and forgetable, but the glow-in-the-dark pages will delight! I appreciate that it's not just stars and lights glowing, but other night creatures, too. Also recommend Christmas Lights (look for animals that are best seen with the lights out).

Review: We have been reading this book at bedtime to
our 7 month old baby. He loves to hold the book and
look at the glowing pictures. There is one sentence
per page, and they rhyme nicely, "Sun sets, crickets chirp,
day has turned to night. Stars twinkle up above, houses
glowing bright."
