Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Her Brother's Keeper
Review: Angel is nonplussed when she meets her new classmate, Sam. Sam has autism and Angel is naturally curious about Sam's behavior and responses.

In time, Angel learns more about the sensory world as Sam experiences it and how Sam came to be fortunate to be mainstreamed, or "included" in her class. I like the way autism is described and explained in this book. A must have for the early grades and for educators and other interested professionals. Cheers to this book!

I also highly recommend "Looking After Louis" by Ely and Dunbar. That book together with this one paves the way down the Long & Winding Road to Inclusion.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Cute book. Good for inclusion classes.
Review: This is a fictional story about a girl named Angel and her friendship with Sam, a classmate who has Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Angel explains how Sam thinks and behaves in school and at home. She describes characteristics, such as sensory differences, repetition, and communication difficulties. Written in very positive language, this book also includes tips for teachers.
