Review: Jane Russell's popularity in the movies surprised me since she has an obnoxious, whiny voice. But she was certainly beautiful in movies and the cameras loved her. My youthful fascination with her was her hair -- I always wanted cuts just like hers.This book was surprisingly pedestrian for a star as big as Jane Russell was. In the end, she's a religious Roman Catholic wife and mother, who dedicated her life to good causes. While that's a great ending for someone's life, it does not make for a great cinematic autobiography. Even her celebrated relationship with Howard Hughes is platonic at her insistence -- and I believe her! If you're looking for a nice story with a happy ending, this is a good choice. If you're looking for juicy Hollywood gossip, move on.
