Rating: Summary: Charming and sweet Review: My mother brought this book back from Hawaii with her for my then 4-yr-old daughter, and she adored it. Now my 2-yr-old son loves it. This book opens with an introduction to our gecko family. Then it moves into a poem that echoes "Good Night Moon." For anyone with ties to Hawaii, or anyone, really, this is very moving and sweet. I love reading this book to my children. The poem puts them in a relaxed sleepy mood at night and my son now anticipates and repeats his favorite parts. The artwork is beautiful. We love everything about this book. There are a lot of children's books out there now, and it's hard to choose. This one is truly unique, worthwhile, and I heartily recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A Bedtime Favorite Review: My mother-in-law brought this book home for my boys when they were very young and it quickly became a bedtime favorite. The story tells of a baby gecko who doesn't like the nighttime. The mother and father understand his fears and show him that going out at night is ok, but they do not force him to join them. Being nocturnal, they go out at night to find bugs and enjoy the moonlight. One night, the little gecko finds the courage to join them and everyone is happy. This book is done in wonderful rhymes and beautiful bright colored illustrations for young children.
