Rating: Summary: A used story line. Review: Hey, I think this was a great book. I love Leppard and her Mandie series. I started them when I was eight, and now, five years later, I still love them. But I think Mrs. Leppard has overdone the Tsani mystery thing ( If you are a mandie reader, you know what I mean). Still, it is a great book, and I recommend it to anyone, any age. You should read the previous Mandie books to enjoy them better. All Mandie books are great, and this one is no exception. I hope they keep coming for a long time!
Rating: Summary: NYC Review: It is summer 1901 and Mandie accompanied with her best friends Celia and Joe, along with grandmother Mrs. Taft are going to visit the Guyers in New York. Adding to the suspense of just going to New York, Mandie had received a telegram from Jonathan saying he'd discovered a big secret from the past. Could it be related to the visible animosity between Jonathan's dad Lindall Guyer and Mrs. Taft? Mandie can't wait to find out. Unfortunately when they arrive in New York they learn that Jonathan and the others had just left to go to Long Island for a few days. Can Mandie stand the suspense? This new Mandie book I felt wasn't as good as the others, but I'm sure the next book Mandie and the Night Thief will be much better as Mandie and her friends go to visit the Pattons. Of course the animosity between Senator Morton and Lindall Guyer will be fun to watch. As Jonathan said:"May the best man win!"
Rating: Summary: Could have been much better Review: Mandie and her friends and family are visiting the Guyer's in New York, and while Mandie was packing, she got a wire from Jonathan stating that he had a secret for her. Mandie can't wait to see what it is. But when Mandie arrives, she discovers that Jonathan has left for Long Island! Mandie is itching to find out what the secret is, and she even goes so far as to search Jonathan's room for any clues as to what the secret is, but she finds nothing. Finally, Jonathan comes home. And the secret that he has surprises everyone. For those that are wondering what is between Ms. Taft and Mr. Guyer, this book reveals all. A while ago I entered in a 'contest' to receive a free autographed Mandie book by Lois Gladys Leppard. Imagine my surprise when I was my name on the list of winners! That autographed book is the pride and joy of my Mandie books. Thank you, Ms. Leppard! I liked this book, except there was one major flaw. In 'Mandie and the Quilt Mystery' Polly (Mandie's neighbor) was supposed to be accompanying Mandie and her friends to New York. But when I read this book, it did not mention Polly at all! Also, I think that Mandie was very rude to snoop in the Guyer's house. Other than that, it was good. Be sure to read this great book!
Rating: Summary: Page Turning Review: Mandie and her friends and grandmother are just getting ready to go to New York, when Mandie recieves a wire from Jonathan saying he's discovered a big secret from the past! no sooner does Mandie get to New York she finds out Jonathan is over at Long Island for the day. Mandie is wild with curiosity and doesn't think she can wait. Altogether I thought this book was really great! You'll find out why Mandie's grandmother and Jonathan's father didn't get along in the past. There was only one thing wrong. In #35 it said Polly- Mandie's neighbor- would be going to New York with them, but it didn't mention Polly at all in the book! I can't wait 'till Mandie and the Night Thief comes out where everyone goes to Charleston!
Rating: Summary: Could have been better Review: This book is really great. Read it!
