Summary: A beautiful book, in language and in illustration
Review: This is a wonderful collection of fairy tales. I bought this particular collection because Peter Malone's illustrations are stunning--but as I was reading "Cinderella" to my five year old son,I found myself admiring the detailed imagery of the writing as well. Vivian French's storytelling is exquisite and compelling, even in tales that we've heard many times. My son's only frame of reference for "Beauty and the Beast" was the Disney version; after we read the Kingfisher version he told me that he wanted to read all the Beauty and Beast stories he could find because this story was so much better. I'm going to find more of the author and illustrator's work, and give this book as a gift. A true treasure!
