Review: Being a future educator, I buy and review many children's books for my classroom collection. After I read this book for the first time, I could not stop talking about it. Then, I could not wait to read it to children. The dialogue is very humorous and is great for storytelling such as the excitement of all the wedding participants and guests being late. The pictures are wonderful. It is also a great learning tool. I used this book for a reading unit incorporating subtraction of ribbons, good citizenship, and Mohawk customs using Jillian's traditional dress as an example. A wonderful read! A must for all children!

Review: Jilian saves the day with her many ribbons as wedding guests and members have various problems. Although Jilian saves the day for others her dress is a mess. This leads to more problems. This story is accompanied with many brilliant and wonderful color pictures that tell the story all in themselves.

Review: Ribbon Rescue is a fascinating story about a little girl named Jillian. Jillian just received a beautiful ribbon dress made by her grandmother before going outside to play. While she was out there a groom came running towards her claiming he was going to be late and was lost. Jillian ripped one of the ribbons off of her dress and fixed his shoes for him and then told him how to get to the church. Next there was the bride, who hair was a mess, and was also late and lost. Jillian ripped more ribbons off her dress and helped the bride. She then directed her to the church. The wedding guests soon followed with many unwrapped presents. Jillian ripped off some more ribbons and helped them as well. Now Jillian was a mess and her dress was ruined. Her mother soon found her and was devastated. They were also guests of the wedding, but Jillian was a mess. When they approached the church Jillian was not allowed in. So she waited on the steps while her mother went in. This plot was a stretch from reality, but showed the importance of giving and how good the outcome is. Jillian solved many problems for the various characters and also ends up saving herself. The brilliant pictures also portrayed the story with many details. The pages were filled with bright colorful pictures. While reading the book it became as if I was there with the characters. I could hear the characters yelping for help as they were in a rush. Not only was this story fun to read, but it also showed the importance of giving and how the goodness returns to those who give.
