Rating: Summary: your girl Review: fantastic book. chapters are in the perfect order, just enough personal stories, Bible verses, and questions. just when you think of a question, she addresses it. every mom of a baby girl need this book to avoid having to unteach things later. then hang on to it for reference later.
Rating: Summary: Finally! I needed this book years ago!! Review: I love this book! I bought it at the author's Yada Yada event for teen girls and read it in a week's time. I highlighted, dog-eared pages and am now getting a group of moms of daughters together for a book club. Each chapter ends with questions so it's perfect for group discussion. I loved the approach to modesty and read it outloud to my daughter. The chapter on girl politics was fabulous and right on! I loved the abundance of scripture, stories, and light humor. It is a book I will read and re-read.
Rating: Summary: Finally...A Real and Present Help! Review: My "Your Girl" is approaching those tween years and is noticing that she is being raised differently than most of her friends - Christian and non-Christian alike. While reading this book - it seemed God offered me several teaching moments that went right along with the chapter I was reading. I was able to read portions of the book to her and she got to see that she is truly not the only one being raised with these values and protective, preventative rules. This is a MUST READ for any Mother, Aunt, or Grandma... anyone who is in ministry to young girls... anyone who is in CONTACT with young girls. This confirmed to my husband and I that we are raising our daughter right - to be Godly in an ungodly world! I am sure that God is well pleased with Vicki Courtney and her writings to parents and daughters alike! I only wish we lived closer to a Yada Yada Conference! I highly recomment this book! You - and your daughter - will greatly benefit for years and years (and generations) to come!

Rating: Summary: Thank you, Vicki Courtney!!! Review: Thank you, thank you, thank you, Vicki Courtney. When I started reading this book, I told my husband that someone has finally written a book on raising godly daughters that is exactly what I would have written if I were a writer (which I'm not). This book is very well written; it's humorous and chocked full of scripture to back up everything discussed in the book. It's easy to read and very straightforward. I want to send this book to everyone I know who has a daughter. I'm so glad to see other moms feel the same way about the media, clothing, appearances, relationship, etc. May this remind Christian parents that their daughter is not their own, but God's, and that we are held to a higher standard than the world's standard. This is a definite read for all moms w/daughters.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Review: This is an outstanding book. What a refreshing perspective on raising girls in today's society. This book is full of practical ways to communicate God's values to your daughter. It will also help me in raising my son to value and appreciate women!

Rating: Summary: The Book We Have Been Waiting For! Review: Vicki Courtney states very simply and eloquently why things like clothes, friends, tv shows, dating, magazines, etc really do matter, and why we as parents need to realize they matter to God.
Vicki's insights are based on her own real-world teenage experiences and her experiences as the mother of a teen. This book is the best parental resource on the subject - bar none. Chapters such as Sugar and Spice and Not so Nice are an example of her wit, but her words are full of practical, everyday wisdom based on the Bible. This is not some pie in the sky how-to-raise-a-godly-daughter book. It is a sound, real account of how we need to enhance our Christian influence on our daughters specifically, and girls in general. Do not wait until you are in a battle to put on your armour...no matter the age of your daughter or some other girl in your life, it is not too early to read this life-changing book.
I have purchased multiple copies of this book thru Amazon.com, Lifeway, etc because I feel so strongly that people need to know what this author has written. I would highly recommend using this in a Bible study group.
