Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A very solid book for this busy generation
Review: This book is about creating a window of time in your daily life to have enough quiet, solitude, and peace to worship God. It not only emphasizes the importance of doing this, but gives very pragmatic examples and pointers that may help the reader "order their private world". It is not a theological book. It is not a very dense read. In fact, it is a very easy read. I would call it a very simple, straight forward read chalked full of excellent ideas. I recommended it to my friend in seminary as he gets really busy moving into his pastoral calling. But, it was also extremely helpful for me as a very busy businessman. It really caters to a broad audience. I give it a 4 stars because of all the Christian books I've read, it's not in my hall of fame, but it's definitely a book worth reading.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A book full of great principles
Review: This book is like a textbook for those who want more organization in their lives. Unless you have a perfect memory, you'll definitely want to read this book multiple times: once to get the gist, then taking notes on successive readings, giving consideration to life application. I plan to undertake a fourth reading using the included study guide.

As the author warns, this book approaches the task of "ordering your private world" from an entirely Christian perspective. So this book will probably not be the cup of tea for the person who doesn't share the Christian worldview. But for those who do, it is invaluable. This book treats life issues I don't hear discussed much in Christian circles -- not because they're taboo necessarily, but perhaps because they just don't occur to us. But once you start reading, you'll say "I needed to hear this!" The book covers five "sectors" that need to be addressed to bring one's life into order: motivation, use of time, wisdom and knowledge, spiritual strength, and restoration.

MacDonald's advice is absolutely practical, never overbearingly spiritual, although he gives many biblical examples. He makes clear that his own life was not always organized, and acknowledges that some of his methods are simply what worked for him -- others may differ (although personally I can't recall any points where I disagreed).

In a nutshell: this is a must-read for anyone who has ever struggled with any disorder and disorganization in their life.

Summary: So great that I bought 3 more copies and gave to friends
Review: This book is probably one of the best books you could ever read! Its easy to read and you'll probably use up a hi-liter reading it. Gordon really knows how to "outline spirtual things" to live by. He's a master teacher!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An insightful examination that sheds light on true living.
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read on maintaining spiritual sanity in a crazy world. Mr. McDonald has great thoughts that inspired me to have a closer walk with Almighty God. He's got a brash and breezy style of writing that makes for easy reading. I love his books and I reccommend this one to anyone who simply wants to have greater depth in their relationship with God. I hope to one day meet this gentlemen who God thought enough of to use to dispense counsel to our President of the United States of America, Mr. Bill Clinton, in one of the President's most trying times.
