Review: The author of this book is a member of the International Commission on English in the Liturgy (ICEL), a group that frequently finds itself at odds with a curial department of the Holy See called the Congregation on Divine Worship (CDW).

The language of these prayers is -- if you'll pardon a somewhat tepid adjective -- nice. Emphatically not to be compared to the prayers composed by, say, Thomas Cranmer, but when we consider the work of ICEL in other areas of the liturgy, our expectations are not exorbitant.
