Summary: A terrible disgrace to modern scientific thought
Review: "The Bible according to Einstein" is an attempt to tell the story of modern science in a religous-styled text. And the very attempt to do so spells disaster.

First of all, the whole idea of the scientific method is to be free of religous-like paradigms. And this book, in effect, is leading the reader to believe that scientific theories are just a matter of faith. This is an extremely dangerous concept, which eventually gives rise to ludicrus ideas such as "evolution is just a faith"...

To make things worse, the book does not effectively distinguish between established facts and speculative models:

Evolution and Relativity are well-established facts, but Superstring Theory and the existence of magnetic monopoles in the early Universe are not. Yet in this book, they all seem to be the infallable word of some omniscient being.

And the most annoying thing of all is the use of book names such as "Genesis" and "Exodus", without a thread of connection to the original Biblical text. To get the idea, it is suffice to mention that the birth of the first stars is covered in "Exodus VII"...

The book does contain a wealth of scientific information about nearly every subject available. But the way it is narrated destroys its potential as an educational resource. All this scientific wealth becomes useless, at the very moment the book preaches to believe it all without question.

The best way to conclude this review, is with an example of claim written in the book which has been proven wrong in the last few years: The Cambrian Explosion is listed there as at happening 570 million BC, but recent measurements proved it to be nearer 544 million BC.

Such an update is not a big shock for a real scientist. But how will it be taken by the poor readers of this "Gospel Truth"?

Summary: A Tour de Force.
Review: After hearing about the book and reading various reviews, I decided to check it out of the library before buying it outright. Am glad I did for I would never want such a work mixed up among science books in my library! As the author(s) state, the book is neither about the Bible or about Einstein, so the title itself is an attention getting lie. Was written as a joke? I have no doubt that a tremendous amount of effort and research went into the writing, but in it's format and language, to what end? Of course, there is a great deal of discussion and description of scientific matters and I found some of it to be interesting and enlightening. HOWEVER, overall, the book is pure fantasy. Whenever they talk of the evolution of man, they speak in gross error for man has always been man and animals have always been animals and the two have always been separate with no relationships or common ancestors; as with the evolution of the planet and moon, gross error. Were these people there? Was anyone there to observe such events? No. What authority (other than a paradigm) do they draw upon to present speculation as scientific fact? There is no scientific evidence for these things, so they speak in fairytale. When they speak of long ages, billions of years, they speak in just-so stories. The current scientific paradigm is spun out according to the company line delighting of the likes of Gould, Dawkins and many others. How can such intelligent people be so blind and so wrong? I guess it's because they want to be; they have to be to protect their funding, tenure, and status in their profession. These authors are spin-meisters. As far as the Bible is concerned, These authors have absolutely no clue about the Bible. I dare say, they have not read it, studied it, or even tried to understand the message or material contained therein. Their supposed parrotting of language is just plain mockery. People who would become fully informed about reality should read Phillip Johnson, Michael Behe, Michael Denton, Richard Milton, Nancy Piercey, and many others. They should become informed about Intelligent Design as revealed from recent studies in Biology, gravitational time dilation in astronomy, and many other studies which point out the extreme error of evolution of any kind as well as a billions of years old universe. These authors need to get a grip on reality. They are way out, and they do a great disservice to gullible readers. The publishers made a huge mistake in printing a fairy tale under the guise of intelligent discussion and presentation. I did not like the book. I cannot recommend it to anyone. It is full of error and speculation. It is a disgrace.

Summary: A wonderful book.
Review: I learned so much from The Bible According to Einstein. It is the best science book that I have ever read. Stars, planets, earth, dinosaurs, molecules, cells are all so clearly explained. I discovered many fascinating things. For example, did you know that sun as viewed from Mercury sometimes undoes zig-zag movements? That's right. The sun as it inches across the sky moves forward, then back and then forward again. It is also wonderful to experience the birth of life of earth that occured 3.5 billion years ago. When I read the book, I can almost hear winged trumpets celebrating this event.

Summary: A great science book.
Review: I like the way that the Bible According to Einstein is organized into biblical-like books. Each one is like a book in itself. This makes it one of the best book buys. Each "biblical book" is intensely packed with information. I learned more by reading 20 pages on a topic than I have by reading entire books on the same topic. For example, there is a "book of Darwin." It is a wonderful narrated biography of his life. I was surprised to discover that Darwin was quite religious. He initially went to Cambridge University to study to be a minister! When Darwin realized that nature behaved in ways not portrayed in the Bible, he became intensely sick. Darwin was ill much of his life and this can be attributed to the conflict between his religious beliefs and his scientific observations. Darwin was even afraid to tell his wife about his theory of evolution. He might not have published "The Origin of Species" had not Wallace published an abstract with the same thesis. Darwin, who had been hesitating to publish his work for 14 years, felt compelled to do so due to Wallace. The voyage of the ship the Beagle is wonderfully narrated in The Bible According to Einstein. One really gets the feeling that scientific discovery is an enlightening experience -- much like a religious revelation. There is a delightful atmosphere in the narration too. Here's a line I like: "And a wind with purpose blew the sails of the Beagle, and down the east coast of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina did the Beagle go." Much of the book reads like poetry. It's a great book. Everyone should buy it.

Summary: A terrible disgrace to modern scientific thought
Review: I'm about half way through this book, my initial feelings about it are very good, there is a LOT of good information. My only issue with the book is the text formating. Everything is stated (or seems to be stated) as a fact. And this is in contradiction with some of refrences that this book makes within. (Science is indeed evoloving and changing constantly, new information is added all the time that changes our preception of the world.) If your intrested in a ton of great information, read it, the constant biblical wording could get annoying and make it a sometimes difficult read.

Summary: The Bible according to Einstein
Review: This book is a testament to the one man's saying - religion is one of the most profitable businesses. The question is how to present it. This one is by mixing it with science or vice versa.
Wise to conceal the identity.
