Summary: Jesus is the Answer
Review: Books such as this one can provide useful information about what the Roman Catholic Church teaches, but often fall short of providing a means of persuading Catholics to learn the truth. The doctrines that are taught by the Catholic Church leave little hope for anyone to be saved and leave the possibility open that the Pope may still need to suffer for some of his sins. What Catholics need to hear is that Jesus is the only way into heaven. The interesting thing is that there are some Catholics that believe this and some of them do not believe the doctrines of the Catholic Church yet they are unable to see that what they believe is in direct contrast with the Catholic Church. This book will not help with these people because they are blind to what the Catholic Church teaches. But if you are trying to win a Catholic priest of someone else who truly believes what the Catholic Church teaches this book may be very helpful to help you to talk to that person.

Summary: The Book is Good for Something
Review: I use this book in my Logical Argumentation course to help my students recognize logical fallacies as well as the results of poor source quotation.

As for his teachings on Catholicism, the author's opinions remind one of Boettner's work--long since discredited by most Protestant theologians.

Not recommended, except as noted.

Summary: Bad Research, Worse Results
Review: Let me begin with the end of the book, the Bibliography: It lists a number of fine Catholic apologetic works from Keating and Hahn which answer the authors poor arguments, many times over. It is obvious he did not read these, but just placed them here as a sham.

This is an uneducated author in biblical research and church history, not to mention a person with an already established agenda which will not be deterred by the facts.

It is a true shame to unleash this type of drivel on the average educated American church-goer....anyone who has internet access can easily verify his nebulous and some untrue statements.

So sad. If you want ALL the answers (and truthful, reasearched information as well) to this sloppy, mealy-mouthed tirade, go read Karl Keating's Catholicism and Fundamentalism. You can trust it.
