Review: I have just attended three lectures by Carlos G. Valles S.J. in Buenos Aires. This particular book of his delves into the poetry behind the Psalms, so often unnoticed, and reaches within, giving us a new insight into prayer. What should we look for? How should we pray? A first reading will lead you into a new realm of thought and from thence, a new depth within yourself. Having lived in India for the last 50 years, have allowed Valles to use alternate philosophical trends of thought. He blends them into the Christian faith, furthering thus the concept behind Ecumenism. The plurality of thought in his work is both enriching and inspiring. It is also an example of globalization's driving force. He gives us spiritual weapons with which to face the hardships and difficulties of today's mutable world. I live in Buenos Aires and he visits us every two years. His lectures are a joy and an injection of HOPE. At 75, he has his own Web page ... and e-mail, so as to be in communion with what technology and communications are doing to the world we live in.
