Summary: What every true christian needs to read.
Review: I heard what I believed to be the voice of God, but what the Holy Spirit spoke to me was so amazing that I could not understand, I thought to myself "who am I that God would perform such a wonderful plan in my life". So I began searching for wisdom to know his voice. I wanted to know that it was He that spoke to me and not my own voice. When I found this book, the store I bought it from was about to close but I had to have something, I didn 't have much time I picked up this book, paid for it and began to read it that night. I realized that God was taking me to an new spiritual level in my life. The book simply put is FANTASTIC!! I believe those who diligently search for the truth will find this book to help them better understand the spirit and the soul and the difference between the two. This book is not for the slothful, not the backslider but the truly obediant....

Summary: Thank God he's raising up true fathers in the ministry
Review: Reading the Releasing of the Spirit book really blessed me spiritually. The Bible says in Hebrew 4:12 The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edge sword, piercing even to the division of the soul and spirit and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents fo the heart. In other words the word of God is effective and accomplishes Gods purpose. It penetrates the depths of the human personality, standing in judgment on our deepest thoughts and intents. This book really explained in dept the divisions of the soul(mind, will, and emotions) this allowed me to be aware of what system I was operating out of the psuche or the zoe. Getting this truth in my spirit has help to mature me more in the word and Gods purpose for my life. To walk a life of Liberty and not bondage. You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free according to John 8:32. The word tells us that the natural man cannot receive the things of the spirit for they are spiritually discerned. The word tells us that to the natural man spiritual things are foolish to him. He cannot comprehend for his eyes are blinded in this area. I recommend this book to individuals who desire spiritual meat. Them that God is calling to the deep. Carnal minded individual stay away! Certain truths will cause confusion in you members (heart). My prayer for them is Lord take away the spiritual blindness that they may see your truth. Break up the fallow ground in their hearts that when the truth comes it may be able to fall on good soil and root.

Summary: Dangerous!
Review: Releasing the Spirit is a disappointing arguement for the triune nature of man. Shankle consistently takes the scriptures out of context in order to support his 'new revelation' of the human spirit, soul, and body. Perhaps the most deceptive and dangerous aspect of the book is it's focus on personal revelation and a metaphorical use of scripture to build it's arguements. While Shankle's system of thought is consistent and fits well within it's own framework, the lack of Biblical, linguistic, and historic foundations makes it a philosophy best avoided.
