Rating: Summary: this book is in a league of its own Review: If I could give 10 stars, I would. If my library were burning down and I could only get 10 books, this would be one of those 10. After looking at 25-35 of the top books on the Beatitudes, I got rid of most of them and kept this one. Whether it is Greek word studies for understanding, fabulous illustrations for preaching or insightful exposition that you want, THIS ONE IS THE BEST! You would have to measure the distance between this book and 2nd place in terms of light years. If you don't have it, buy it today. If you don't have any money to buy it, call a close relative or friend and get it on your next "birthday gift list" or "Christimas gift list". And when it arrives, get ready to have your ever lovin' socks blessed right off of your feet.
Guelich, Lloyd-Jones, Barclay and Stanley Jones have all written on the Beatitudes either in a whole volume or in part of a volume on the Sermon on the Mount. They are each good in their own right, but nothing is in the same league with Pursuit of Happiness by Zodhiates. It is probably the most "USEFUL" book in my whole library. It not only addresses every imaginable interest in the original Greek words and phrases, but it is stuffed with the best illustrations from "real life" (not preacher's stories) that I have ever come across. If you are going to study the Beatitudes or preach on them or you know somebody who is, BUY THIS BOOK NOW! I promise you that you not only will NOT be disappointed, but you will be recommending this gem to your friends before you have gone 50 pages into the book. And by the time you have finished this mammoth work on the Beatitudes (over 600 pages), you will be transformed into a Pursuit of Happiness "ZEALOT"! Are you ready for the transformation? Buy the book. Not ready to be transformed? Then stay away from this one. God bless. Mike

Rating: Summary: The Book Fell Apart Review: The content of the book is excellent, just like everything else Zodhiates writes. Unfortunately it is cheaply printed and the pages started fall out when I was on page 9. I called the publisher and they are going to replace it, but it shouldn't be so poorly made.
