Rating: Summary: A look at the "other" side Review: As a Christian, I am disgusted by the biased and poorly informed arguments in this book. The authors (Bill Myers and David Wimbish) obviously have never read the Wiccan creed or a Dungeons & Dragons handbook. They present their personal opinion's and belief as indisputable facts while omitting or skipping over any evidence that might present a different (and possibly more informed) viewpoint from their own. My opinion (which is by no means the only plausible one) is that the authors are either severely misinformed or simply don't care about the truth, as long as they can find obscure facts and quote translated bible verses to further their own beliefs. They insist that they are right and everybody who believes different is wrong; there is one way to heaven and they can show it to you. (And anyone else who says otherwise is possessed by a demon and trying to mislead you). I am saddened that Christianity is being tarnished by such demagogues and reactionaries. I (personally) choose to believe that the Christian faith is the faith of the forgiveness of sin, not the Spanish inquisition; of the loving and tender God, not the Salem witch trials; and of the intelligent and informed believer, not the modern demagogue.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read!!! Review: I began my spirtual journey by reading "New Age" books, then God grabbed a hold of me and showed me the real and only Truth there is, which is through his only Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. But, even though I've been a Christian for some time now, I still always wondered what the big deal is with horoscopes, channeling angels, crystal power, spirits from the other side, ect. and other sorts of "new age" occultism. I heard the answers before, but never really truly understood them. But now from reading this book, I understand and realize the true danger of opening ourselves up to all of that. I've read the reviews that said this book was biased and just a great big lie, but I see now that they don't know what they just read. This book is a must read for those who are wondering why "new age" and other occult subjects really should not be messed with.
Rating: Summary: The Dark Side of the Supernatural Review: I found it biblically sound in it's facts. This was inspired and informative, fresh and innovative. Any good Christian would have to agree with the authors of this book. Cleanly written and easy to understand.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: I was so happy to find a book explaining the supernatural and what we are up against as Christians in a way that was very easy to understand. I would recommend it for anyone who has any questions about astrology, phychics, hypnosis, UFOs, demons, etc. Well worth the read.
Rating: Summary: Sometimes the Truth Hurts Review: If you are seeking a Biblically truthful guideline for your spiritual journey you will find this book very helpful. Those who have actually read their Bibles will know that Christ warned us about many of these same pagan practices and beliefs that are presented in The Dark Side of the Supernatural.
Rating: Summary: A Waste of Time! Review: Let me begin by stating that I absolutely hated this book. Objectively because it's biased and shows only one side of everything. Also, it's quite uninformed about New-Age movements and misrepresents them entirely. Also this book can be needlessly paranoia-inducing to anyone mentally unstable or highly religious (not that they're the same thing). I didn't even buy this book, I checked it out from the library, and I want to say don't waste your money or your time on this book. If I could go back, I wouldn't have even checked it out from the library.

Rating: Summary: Sad, that we have come to this . . . Review: The fact is, if you're actually considering buying a book named 'the dark side of the supernatural,' the book is probably just right for you. It will affirm all of the short-sighted, narrow-minded, vindictive beliefs you already have. You will quite likely love this book, without ever realizing just how sick it's message is. It will never occur to you to wonder how a religion like Christianity, founded on the principle that we should try and love each other, has been warped into something as jealous and contemptible as the set of beliefs behind this book. So, go ahead, buy the book, read about how all the yoga practitioners and role-players you hate so much are going to spend eternity roasting in the fires of hell. But, the next time you hear that mainline Christianity is dying, ask yourself if maybe, just maybe, the fact that you have betrayed everything that Christ stood for has anything to do with it.
