Summary: Review of The God Makers
Review: Anyone who has questions about Mormonism should read this book. I read the book, and then read the numerous rebuttals from various sources on the Internet, and found that NONE of the rebuttals are based on anything other than the person's opinion. The God Makers cites numerous sources in a scholarly fashion. Inquiring minds can track the sources down and read them for themselves. Mormons call the information in this book libelous, disappointing, propaganda, or something worse. Ask them for specifics; ask for proof that the claims of the book are false. They will not provide any because there is none to provide. The Mormon Church will not answer this book, because they CANNOT.

Summary: Go to the Source
Review: Back in the 80's I would have joined any church. I was looking for hope or someway to feel my life was not a waste, and that there was a way out of the despair I was experiencing. I tried everything - I listened to everyone's idea of truth. None of what I tried made my life make sense. I got to the point of suicide. The day after Christmas l986, I finally (I believe) was led to go to the Source of all truth itself - God. I cried out to Him. I asked Him "If You're real show me!" I wanted to know who Jesus Christ was from the Man Himself - "Who are You - and what is the Truth?" He showed up at my door and for 17 years He has made Himself known, manifested His presence to me and led me through my life when I didn't know which way to go. And one of the major truths He has shown me is that the reason I feel so hopeless at times is because I'm trying to be my own god - trying to be righteous, holy, worthy by my own works. The only place that got me was back thinking there is no hope! I found out why God is God! He is the ONLY ONE that is righteous, and when Jesus died on the cross and rose again it was so He could come at my acceptance, invitation to come and live in me and BE MY LIFE, BE MY RIGHTEOUSNESS, because I can't do it. My oldest brother was a Mormon and he tried and tried to be worthy of blessing, he tried to be "good" and he couldn't line up so...because he couldn't/wouldn't "line up" straight so he and his wife could receive the Mormon blessing on their marriage, he ended up dead - he committed suicide. But I believe he may have been murdered by Mormons who sympathized with my sister-in-law and felt that my brother's own blood would have to be shed for his sin in order to "earn" salvation. People!!! I have good news for you!!! Jesus took your punishment for your sins and GAVE YOU HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS in return - A FREE GIFT!!! - not one you have to earn to go to celestial levels. The problem is pride...people want to say "look at me - I've been blessed by the Mormon church because I'm so special!" People in other kind of churches try to do the same thing. But when you shut up and ask Jesus Christ Himself about truth/grace/real salvation, He lead you to see that it's nothiing we have to do - it's what we believe. And he will even give us FAITH to believe, even when we become so cynical, scared, unable to trust anyone, so tired trying to reach some standard we can't reach. That's why He is God!!! WE NEED SOMEONE TO SAVE US!!! No one has to know you're asking God the truth. The Mormon church won't know and come with their posse, telling you you're a vile failure!!! GOD LOVES YOU!!! GOD LOVED YOU SO MUCH HE SEND HIS ONLY SON TO DIE AND TAKE YOUR JUDGEMENT ON HIM !!! If you receive Jesus Christ of Nazareth as your SAVIOR then you can quit working, sweating, worrying about whether you're good enough and just REST IN HIS LOVE!!!!!!!!!

Summary: THE TRUTH FROM A MAN WHOSE BEEN THERE;
Review: Ed Deckers teachings on the LDS has been constant. This is more than I can say of the LDS. Its teachings vary from one year to the next. They violate scripture in many ways. I suggest anyone interested in the subject consider him an authority and read the whole series of his books. He is must reading for anyone who wishes to know about the "acceptable cults" of Mormonism and Masonry.

Summary: Condemned by Nat. Council of Christians and Jews, Part II
Review: For someone claiming authorship in the name of "Christianity," Decker exposes his true motives and nature through the vindictive and misleading information he publishes. Denounced by the National Council of Christians and Jews, the material in this book has been deemed repugnant by a broad spectrum of religious readers.

Summary: Ed Decker's book
Review: I had the opportunity to take a look at that (depressing) book from Ed Decker. All I can say about it is that the book is not an accurate portrayal of mormon beliefs and faith.

All over the book, Mr. Decker uses a very demeaning language and his remarks are disrespectful in many occasions. But the strongest failure in this book is that it falls short from the truth.

Many information on our basic beliefs are intentionally distorted and exaggerated, and lots of "documented" issues that are quoted in the book aren't documented at all (many references given in the book aren't correct, do not exist, or simply aren't true). Basically, it tells a lot of misleading, and untruthfull information about the LDS Church.

Mr. Decker, if you really want to show people what mormons believe, you should try looking for information from the right sources before writing.

I strongly recommend people not to waste any time with such a "bunch" of lies. This book only increased my conviction that those who are critical to the LDS Church are on a very shaky ground.

Summary: Review of The God Makers
Review: I thought this book to be a good book for all people. I loked how it helped me understand things that I didn't know about the Mormon. I demand that all people should read this book since all our minds will be opened up to the real issues of the book.

I feel scared to read this book because we all need to know about the dangers that are warned. This is heaven, after all

Review: My comment is in response to the reader who entitled his/her review "Condemned by Nat. Council of Christians and Jews, Part II". The National Council of Christians and Jews(which I believe is the International Council of Christians and Jews) made those quotes more than 12 and 20 years ago. Since that time, they have discovered the truth of "The God Makers" series. You attack the authors of the books because they portray their findings as "designed to misstate, malign, and encourage hatred", shoddy shcolarship, sensationalism, self-serving sources" and yet you do the same with your comments.

The base of the books does not appeal to fear and hatred, it appeals to love. Read them. In "The God Makers II" p.210, Line 10: "The tragedy of all this is that such beautiful, hardworking, and committed people are spiritually blinded people, with the light of the glorious gospel of Christ hid from them by Satan (2 Corinthians 4:3,4). The Mormon people are not the enemies of God, but victims of a horrible and wicked hoax fed to them by evil teachers, who are of their father, the devil. Only those sent by God, with the knowledge of God, using the Word of God, can set them free. Are you one who can reach out to them and bring them the living light? We pray that you can and that you will!" p. 214, Line 5: "I saw clearly that Lucifer was the god of that place (referring to the Mormon Temples), blinding even those who loved God and sought only to serve Him. They were bondslaves to the prince of darkness. I wept that morning for the Mormon people, with groanings from deep within my soul. I knew that the battle was 'not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places'(Ephesians 6:12)."

The authors express their deep remorse for the people of the Mormon church and they back it up with prayer and Biblical scripture. If you call that prejudiced, that's because it is. It is prejudiced towards the love of Jesus Christ, even for those who are lost and don't know it. I implore you to get on your knees and truly ask God to reveal his truth to you. If you are sincere, He will reveal it. When He does, check it with the Bible because God's revelation will never contradict His written word - The HOLY BIBLE. He loves you.

Summary: In defense for the Authour...
Review: The God Makers 2 is an excellent book. Mormonism is changing its face, from a secluded cult, to a mainstream Christian church. The God Makers 2 does an great job of uncovering the "Christian Facade" and looking at the truth behind the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If you are a Mormon, have family or friends that are Mormon, or just want to know more about one of the fastest growing religions in the world, pick this Book up!!
