Rating: Summary: A cultural and linguistic treasure Review: If we're made extinct by a nuclear war and alien visitors a thousand years from now find a vault with books representing Earth's history and culture, My New Fighting Technique is Unstoppable should represent how average Americans talked in the early 21st century. To the pointy-headed intellectuals, the book is NOT pointless, but personafies the daily struggles every individual endures to attain a goal, a dream, whether to invent a new technique, or gather up the courage to face the Circulatory System Motherf-cker. The characters approach martial arts in the most superficial and deluded way, and yet I think that's Rees' stinging indictment of our values in our artificial modern lives. Also check out My New Filing System is Unstoppable too.

Rating: Summary: Funniest ************g Book! Review: My New Fighting Technique Is Unstoppable isn't like anything else I've ever seen--the only comparison is David Rees' other book, Get Your War On. It also combines clip art and profanity with hilarious results. This is so funny, and so weird--my favorite part was the karate guys trash-talking to each other. It's hard to explain, because as the other reviewers have pointed out, you either get it or you don't. But I don't see how you couldn't get this, unless you just have no sense of humor or are easily offended by four-letter words. Go to www.unstoppable.com to see if it's for you or not.
Rating: Summary: where hip hop meets ka-ra-te Review: This just might be the funniest book I've ever read. I'm not a big comics fan, really, but I discovered a few of these strips a year or two ago on David Rees's website for the brilliant Get Your War On. But while Get Your War On is tied to a very specific moment it time, My New Fighting Technique is timeless, or at least more free-floating -- and it's total & pure hilarity. It's not really satire, but you can tell it's the same sensibility that created Get Your War Om, and as the other reviews on this page show, you either get it or you don't. But if you get it, you simply won't be able to stop laughing. Page after page, it just keeps building, getting funnier and funnier. It's simple but surreally hilarious, blunt but somehow very delicately constructed. Just from the way he pulls it all off, I'm convinced Mr. Rees is some kind of crazy genius. I love this book.
Rating: Summary: Black and white cartoon approach to martial arts Review: You can't get much more straightforward about the topic of a title than My New Fighting Technique Is Unstoppable, a guide which uses the black and white cartoon approach to consider martial arts and fighting. Add a healthy dose of humor - not reflected in the title aside from tongue-in-cheek - and you have a comic description of the martial arts which may be difficult to easily pidgeonhole, but no less worthy because of its presentation and focus.
