Summary: Memorable Music from Squaresoft
Review: As a die-hard fan of Squaresoft games, as well as an avid piano player, I was surprised and pleased to find that it was possible to order the sheet music to many of the Final Fantasy series games. Fans might be a little confused at first; this book is listed as the music for Final Fantasy IV, which was released in America as Final Fantasy II. The Super NES title was one of the more popular games the company released on that specific system, complete with an excellent plot, well-developed characters, and powerful emotions. This music reflects all of these elements in a special way, being not only finely written but memorable as well. Players of the game will instantly recognize just about every piece, and the music is easy enough for intermediate players to sight read. More advanced piano players may find the simplicity of the tunes a bit lacking, but all songs are given chord placements, so it is fairly easy to construct a more complex harmony. The book also contains EVERY song from Final Fantasy IV (In America, II), even more obscure pieces, such as 'Palom & Porom', 'Dancing Calcobrena', and two different arrangements of the chocobo theme. This book works well as a sight-reading exercise too; the music is written in many different keys, and familiarizes players with accidentals and different styles of playing. Fans of Final Fantasy who can play the piano will not be disappointed by this book.
