Summary: Limited tutorial
Review: I've had no training in Autocad. I do not use Autocad in my line of work. I got it because I wanted to learn something new just for the "Heck of it". I bought the software, and then I bought this book. I've created my own "cheat sheets" with command shortcuts, and I find myself referring back to the book constantly. With this book alone I have learned how to navigate R14 to the extent that I can do most anything on a non-professional level... I would have liked the book to have included more lessons, but that is what college classes are for. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. Lots of knowledge with no regrets.

Review: In-depth descriptions, very well formatted and easy to follow.
Mr. Omura has done an excelent job with bringing AutoCAD R14 to a level just about anyone can comprehend and master.
He even adds suggestions on when to take breaks during the tutorials.Also, the "AutoCad 14 Instant Refrence" is an excelent companion.

Summary: The Only Book You Need
Review: Mastering AutoCad 14 was the third book I purchased in my efforts to 'get to grips, with AutoCad R14. The book was delivered in just a few days and as soon as I started work with it I knew this was the only book I was going to need. It literally covered everything, from the simplest to most advanced items. A great book for AutoCad users.

Summary: A Waste of Money if you want to learn Auto CAD R14
Review: The book has over 1200 pages of info so it should be good right? WRONG!!! With this book you can not skip any chapters therfore the statement of it being a reference book is totally false, but if you do have a life time to learn Auto CAD 14 this book is perfect for you. The only way to go through this book is from start to finish, meaning that if you need to go back to chapter 12 to learn something you have to go through 11 chapters to get there. A waste of money in my opinion.

Review: This book covers the spectrum from the layman, to the experienced professional looking to deepen his understanding of the tools available in Autocad14. It is usefull both as a reference and a tutorial. Skipping through or page by page, there is no gap in the usefullness of this text.

Summary: A worthwhile investment
Review: This book provided me with the mechanism to move from Anvil to the world of Autocad. I found the book to be well laid out, providing sufficent tutorial, explanations and examples when used in conjunction with the program itself. This is not the kind of book that one can simply read and expect to become a ACAD user. I've recently moved up to Autocad 2000 and have the authors related title on order.

Summary: A very complete textbook that even a beginner can understand
Review: When I first picked up this heavy, text loaded book, I dreaded my long hours of deep study with this heavy weight on my chest, while I read it in bed.The book is too heavy for reading in bed, however, at a well lighted table it is truly a work of art. This book Mastering Autocad 14 covers every crack and hidden secret the AutoDesk volumes still hide at my own desk. And as a bonus this wonderful book has two other book on the attached CD, as well as other utilities. At any price, this book is a must for all Autocad 14 users, even the Autodesk Crew probably have it. We paid almost $4,000.00 for Autocad 14 w/ AEC. With this book Mastering Autocad 14, we will get our money's worth and will put it on all our workstations to keep up our productivity. No more getting stuck looking for 30 minutes in the different program books from Autodesk for some simple command. We have this book to be used, So should you.
