Rating: Summary: Excellent guide to formZ Review: A friend of mine recommended this book to me. As a beginner to formZ, I found this an excellent resource to learning the program. The sequence in which all the tools and commands were described, as well as the exercises, made the interface very easy to grasp and use. It was great not to be overwhelmed by a CAD program for a change!
Rating: Summary: Brilliant piece of work! Review: As a total newcomer to form.Z, I found this to be a great book. Very detailed and descriptive and nicely illustrated, it led me step-by-step through the program. The sequence in which each tool was introduced was well thought out and really helped to master it. Going through the modeling assignments given at the end of every chapter has jump-started my modeling capabilities. I have, in a very short span of time, gained in a lot of confidence in doing 3D design with form.Z, thanks to this book.Software features are bound to change from time to time, but the real challenge for an author is to present the material so the program can be well understood. Once you know the basics, new versions of any tool are easy to learn. This book does a terrific job! Its obvious that the author has a lot of experience teaching the program. I strongly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn form.Z.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book with great examples. Review: form.Z seemed a very complicated program to me until I used this book. It simplified the process of learning form.Z for me enormously. Extremely detailed and superbly organized, it led me step-by-step into the intricacies of the program, and ultimately let me master all the tools and features including those in the latest version, 3.0. The actual process of modeling various design objects, ranging from a table lamp to a stadium roof, described in detail at the end of every chapter, helped tremendously. What a relief to not have to plod painstakingly through the large set of form.Z manuals any more!
Rating: Summary: A good book on Form.Z Review: Good book! Enjoyed reading it. I like the authors style - simple, and easy to follow. The illustrations are good and the material very comprehensive. I love the cover too!
Rating: Summary: Very Helpful Book Review: I actually haven't finished reading this book. But I've gotten into it enough to be surprized at some of the negative reviews. I am an intermediate FormZ user that hasn't had access to the program for a couple of years. So I had some catching up to do and needed some walkthrough with some of the basic structure again. Also, I have always been a little confused with the architecture of the program - especially the different kinds of entities and object personalities. Well, I'm very happy with the book so far. Khemlani has been very clear and systematic. She understands the confusion newcomers experience with this unique program, most likely because she has taught it for so many years. It's true that the examples provided do not illustrate the power of this program applied to complex projects. But other authors who are showcasing their most complex work often don't have the patience to tell us how it really works. This book goes into the deep structure of the program without overwhelming you with missing links and assumptions. My hat off to Ms. Khemlani. This is a real gift.

Rating: Summary: best hands-on book on the subject--exactly what I need! Review: I disagree with the review below--I found this book incredibly easy to use for a variety of projects. The instructions are crystal clear, as are the illustrations. This is exactly the book on form*Z I've been waiting for!
Rating: Summary: Good book with detailed exercises Review: I found the exercises in the book especially well-done -- described and illustrated in detailed. They really helped me to understand the modeling process in form.Z. I was initially a little sceptical about buying this book, reading some of the negative reviews that have been posted on this site, but I'm glad I finally did. I suppose a single book cannot cater to everyone's requirements, but this book met at least mine -- which was to learn the basics of form.Z as painlessly as possible.
Rating: Summary: Great book makes learning form.Z so easy! Review: I had been wanting to learn form.Z for a long time, having heard rave reviews about it in the CAD community. Luckily, I found "Into 3D with form.Z" which gave me all the incentive I needed to learn it. I must say that form.Z lives up to all that I have heard about it -- it is very intuitive and user-friendly, and makes 3D modeling on the computer as easy as sketching on a piece of paper. And this book makes it even simpler. By the end of the first chapter, I had learnt enough to be able to model fairly complex 3D configurations, and by the end of the book, I had learnt everything there was to know about form.Z. An altogether excellent resource!
