Rating: Summary: spanktacular Review: so far I am glas i did not spend the money on an other class, save you mony use the book, all you need is some motivation. the exersizes are fun, there are no missing steps, everything is thoroughly explains, the lay out is consistantly through the entire book, so you do not have to relearn how to use the book every chapter, as a matter of fact, I used the PhotoShop and ImageReady for the Web, and Dreamweaver befor, and the lay out is the same there too.
Rating: Summary: Well written, organized, logical progression of concepts Review: The author has demonstrated great skill in presenting the general concepts for using Flash MX 2004. This book is excellent for the person who needs to know both how and why to do things in Flash. When you finish the book, you should have no trouble understanding how to use Flash at an intermediate level.
In regard to the writing style, very rarely did I encounter explanations that made assumptions about the reader's understanding of the hands-on process. The author knows how to use English well enough so that technical concepts are understood. Usually, many authors of most technical manuals are generally incapable of explaining a topic without utterly confusing the reader, which seems to come mostly from making assumptions. You will not encounter that in this book.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Review: This book is easy to follow and a must have for anyone new to Flash or Flash MX 2004. The author truly hits the nail on the head with this one.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: This book is great! I am new to Flash and this book does a great job of teaching. The hands on exercises are good and the author does a great job of explaining things. I have tons of computer books and this is one of the best ones I've read. The book gives lots of detail yet it is easy to move quickly through the book. If you are looking for a good Flash book, this is the one!
Rating: Summary: Easy way to learn Review: This book is very well written. Clear, concise and easy to follow. I don't know what the others are referring to about discrepencies. Maybe they are having trouble with comprehension. You go from the basics to advanced techniques. I was amazed at how much I learned, even though I have been using Flash for several years. I purchased it because of the CSS instruction and to learn some of the changes in MX 2004. I was not disappointed. Yeung's background as an instructor comes through in this book. As someone who works professionally, has used Flash since v4, I HIGHLY recommend this to every beginning/intermediate Flash developer.

Rating: Summary: Great book from begining to end Review: This is my first review- but that is because I loved this book.
I bought foundation macromedia flash MX first- hated it, I didn't understand what I was doing. I thought I would never learn Flash.
So I bought this book (recommended by a teacher)- Flash MX 2004 HOT, this is the best book for any program I've ever read. It makes you understand why you do and use certain things. I went through the first 10 chapters in 2 days because I was having such a great time learning.
It doesn't go into detail about the features of Flash MX professional though.
This is a great book for a beginner. The tutorials are easy to read and understand, they are not too long- You'll remember what you just did- how and why. It all makes sense. I didn't have a clue about buttons in the other book-and that was with their tutorials.
This book I completely understood everything.
