Rating: Summary: Awesome book, buy it. Review: This is a very good book in my opinion, almost a classic. Steve covers just about everything here, from variable naming conventions to code formatting to module partitioning. Buy it.
Rating: Summary: Its okay.. Review: itsInsistanceOnUsing thatUnreadable szHungarianNamingConvention throughoutTheBook's lpdwExamples certainly does not help it. All in all an OKAY book.
Rating: Summary: The best book on Software Construction available anywhere! Review: If you must have only one book on your desk then make it this one. An invaluable guide for beginner and expert programmers alike. It is required reading for every member of our software team.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: All book taught me are too numerous to mention. However, one thing stands out. I can now look at anyone's code and immediately find at least one thing wrong with it no matter how much more experienced or talented they are than me. It helped me develope a style that is effective and respected. I can always easily argue my reasons for coding things the way I do.
Rating: Summary: The best guide on writing better code! Review: 'Nuff said. ;-
Rating: Summary: Truly Outstanding; Highly recommend to any programmer Review: As a new programmer I purchased this book on a friend's recommendation. I found I could not put it down. Steve McConnell as taken a complicated and obscure subject like coding and turned out an easy to read, easy to understand bible for the industry. Bravo and I look forward to reading his next book.
Rating: Summary: This fantastic book is absolutely required reading. Review: Profound and fun to read
Rating: Summary: The best book on writing code, bar none Review: If you're a professional programmer, or aspire to be one, you need to read this book. It is the best guide to writing high-quality code available. It's not a book on how to use any particular language, but rather how to design, implement, test and comment your code effectively in whatever language you want to use. I learned more about practical programming from this book than from any other I have ever read, and most chapters have references for further reading which also lead to more valuable insights. Buy this book - you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: A must for every software engineer, tech lead, and manager Review: This is the book I always wanted to write, but much better! Steve McConnell has put together a book that can, if followed, make being a software engineer fun again. It is "Software Engineering 101", the class that noone taught anybody. Engineers, technical leads, and all levels of management should read the preface and chapters 1, 2, 3, 31, and 32. Engineers should then read the rest of the book and managers should move on to "Rapid Development".
